How do you all feel about Good mornings?

I hate them. I think they are boring as hell. I do them anyway, though.

deff good for a stretch/warmup/pump but if you do it wrong you can throw your back out easy.

I used to do them all the time. I sprained lower back a few years ago so my deads and mornings aren't waht they used to be. but I still throw em in there every so often.

I love them however I always have a little bit of the fear before doing them.
I'm sure I read somewhere that Bruce Lee put his back out doing GMs.

Funny that you say that.. I read that as well years ago and thats always been in the back of my mind Bruce Fukin his back up with GM's .. I think it was like 135 too lol

There is a private gym close to whare I live and the owner has been in many state, semi pro, national comps and did very well. Its a BB school and you have to be accepted and follow his training all the way( no dead lifts or good morning in there if he saw you doing them hed kick you out.) He said he has seen so many great BB jack up there life and career doing them and there are safer ways to build a lower back???

I agree, I like to do DL's, I don't go much more than 80% max, but I stear clear of GM's. They just feel risky to me. I don't wanna lose the use of my back for the extra little muscle. I don't plan on being a pro, so the 'risk vs reward' is not worth it.

Good mornings have been great for me, but I always try to keep the weight down as I use it primarily as a stretching exercise.

Do your GM's with a Cambered Bar and you'll be quite happy. You won't feel like there's some 'risk/reward' situation, just reward to your squat & deadlift. I'm not saying push it heavy as some do but you can certainly add weight so that you're not treating it as a rehab exercise, you're actually utilizing it to strengthen the posterior chain.
