    My powerlifting first meet

Had my first meet today. Raw 275 lb class. I weighed in at 254, ended up being close to 260 today, pretty insane.

    Squat
    450 something good lift
    501. Something good then went big
567.5 good lift, that's 80 lbs over what I've done in training.

    Bench
    364 good nice and clean
402 failed twice sad since I'm capable but I think I went too long since my last bench session. I didn't engage everything right.

    Deadlift
    450 something good but hard
479 miss got it up but some downward motion.
    479 good lift

Had a lot of fun, everyone else was great and helped push me. Met some good people

It was pretty good, including spectators over 200 people showed up. 1 flight of squats like 17 people, 2 flights of bench and deadlift.

I should have been able to deadlift a lot more, but seriously I was so worn out by then, and my glutes were stiff and weak overall.

Great work. Nerves play a big part in your first meet as well. You'll blow away those numbers at your next meet!

Thanks, there was a guy that weighed in 273 dry, monster and lean, but he did bench only. I need to look up what he hit can't remember. Sure it was well over 500, saw a 440 raw as well but he didn't get a total. I ended up first place for apf open raw full power, 275 lb class.

I'll let you know after meet results are posted. Might be just me in the open raw 275 lb full power class. Cause there was a lot more strong guys in gear than raw. And I was one of the bigger competitors. There was a 308+ guy in raw. then a bunch of people 220 and lower. And another looked about my size but like I said he didn't get a total, he was probably 242 though anyways.

Good job man, how long did you train before you decided you wanted to compete? I want to do one in about a year. Im not happy with my squat or I'd do it sooner. Must be cool though to have some numbers to go off to beat.. well done

I spectated my first meet four years ago. It was almost a year before that that I got interested in powerlifting and started training with heavy weights. Then three years ago I started prepping for a meet but had an accident with a reciprocating saw and couldn't train. Then moved and life got in the way till I made it happen now.
