Time off leading to a meet
Was curious how much time other lifters take off prior to competing in a meet ? Also , how scaled back are your workouts when getting close to a meet ? I've been attending meets for a couple of years now and am having a difficult time getting that balance of just enough rest time and putting in just enough work to feel my best on meet day.

It depends on many factors....
The older, heavier, stronger you are the more time off you need to peak.
I am old like you and I will not bench heavy for a week before the meet.
I will not squat heavy for 1.5 weeks before the meet.
I will not deadlift heavy for 2 weeks before the meet.

1 to 2 weeks prior to a meet. I do understand the heavier you lift the more time you need , I think that may be part of my issue , not enough off time. My totals are certainly not earth shattering ,haven't been doing this long enough (nothing like being a newbie in a old man's body). I've only been giving myself 1 week off from heavy work before a meet. Kind of curious what you do in between your last heavy lift and a meet. Thank you for your input.

So I may bench 3 days a week with the low volume.
Squat 2 days and pull 1 day.
