"Who knows with what kind of shirt Scott Mendelson is benching?"
When Scott first won the Arnold Classic he was wearing a second hand Inzer Double Ply Poly shirt, when he made his last two benches he was wearing a Karin Kline Double Denim Shirt.

I use a Karins Double Denim open back. I weigh 280 and do compete in the 275 pound class. I bench about 435 raw and my best shirt bench is 600(that was with an Inzer double denim). I still figuring this shirt out, but I have done 575 fairly easy in it.

Thats nothing. What do you think is possible with a denim shirt? Is a denim shirt for everybody better than a double poly?

my best raw was 545lbs and i have done 660 with a shirt. i used a inzer 2x denim open back. If you were to focus on your lockout with board presses etc you could get a denim and go mid high 600's. Problem is people are stronger in different areas so why one guy gets 100lbs from his shirt and the other gets 30 is mainly all in there lockout power and speed. I personally think shirts are getting a little out of hand these days!! I support them cause i use them, but dam the numbers are getting sky high!!

Denim shirts are the best. They provide the most spring, however, they are prone to ripping. If they rip when your taking your 1 rep, you could be in a compromising position. How often do you train with your shirt on?

Titan shirts
I agree, Titan shirts are great.... HOWEVER.. the blowout warranty is useless. I was at a USAPL meet a week ago in Richmond, VA., and a guy in my class decided to wear an extrememly small shirt (42) and attempt a 500 opener. His brand new shirt blew from sternum to bellybutton. He donned a second Titan and it blew as well. He was carted out on a stretcher before he could attempt a third. I use a Titan F-6 because I have a hard arch and I don't wear it so tight that I can't get the weight down. Even with a moderately fitting shirt I get 10-15% out of it. What's more is that they are easy to get on and off... much better than my old Inzer... though the new Inzer's are better.

Oh yes, and one more thing. If you are lifting in a meet where the judges are looking for a really ridiculous 2 second pause, even after slooooowly lowering the bar, a shirt will absolutely save your pecs, tendons, joints, and ego. IPF did away with a mandatory timed pause over a decade ago but the judges don't seem to have caught up with the reasons. Once there is no momentum in the bar you are allowed to press... unless the judges are being a pain in the arse.

Maybe someone can help me here. Now I have been using Bench Shirts for years. I started out years ago in the old (one and only at the time) Inzer Blast Shirts. I worked my way through all the levels of their shirts over the years. A couple of years ago I started using the Titan Fury shirts. Awesome shirts. My partner and I were actually given several free shirts during the early stages of their development as kind of test shirts for Titan. We became very good with these single ply shirts. Note: I only use Single ply Poly shirts because that is all that is allowed in my organization. Back to what I was saying. The Buzz down here in Texas is how awesome Inzer's New Rage and Rage X shirts are. So about 2 months ago I bought a couple of these shirts to give them a try for my meet that was coming up. The Rage shirts were awesome for doing your board press workouts. I mean every workout I was putting up PRs on my 3board, 2 board, and 1 board lifts. I'm talking I was benching 40-50 pounds more than before. The kicker came when it was time to do full presses all the way to the chest. I tried to get a good lift for weeks and never could. I either had trouble getting the weight down or just couldn't stay in my groove. I'm a very fast learner when it comes to shirts, but this was CRAZY!!!! I had to decide at the last minute to chunk the Rage and go back to my Titan Fury F-6 for the meet. Good thing I did too. At the meet everyone wearing a Rage or Rage X bombed out. It was the strangest thing I've ever witnessed. I don't mean that a lot of lifters using the shirts bombed, I mean every single lifter using a Rage or Rage X shirt bombed out in the bench press. There were 8 lifters that bombed using these shirts. And it I know these guys. It wasn't that they were using too much weight or not enough, they just couldn't keep the bar in the groove. Has anyone else had this problem???? Sounds too risky to use this shirt. I mean yhea, you "Might" be able to lift more in one of these shirts, but you have to get the lift in you want to stay in the meet right???
