Not the typical Shoulder injury post

OK starting about 3 weeks ago both my shoulders have been killing me. From the sticky notes above I believe it's tendonosis.

I have a history of my right shoulder giving me problems due to an old injury but this is different and mostly my left more than right.

I am on cycle last 3 weeks. TestE/TrenA. I'm on HRT to the test has been long time. I only bumped the test up a little for cycle, 300mg week. The Tren is 400 week.

About 2 weeks ago both my shoulders started to get real achy. Now it's mostly my left but the right still hurts some. I did not lift HEAVY, did not strain or do anything I can think of. I'm wondering if the tren is drying them out or? I took 4 days off and it only helped a little. They are defiantly worse after I lift even if it's not heavy.

I am going to try the 60% weight and more reps as suggested in the sticky notes above to see if that helps but so far??? Any ideas?

Yes I have been using a lot of ice, several times a day. It helps a little also but no big change even after a couple of weeks.

I have supraspinatus tendonitis and its been 18 months and it still bothers me till this day. i got to avoid bench press and side laterals since their the only 2 hurting my shoulder and the pain has slightly gone down more n more but still there.

What i do now is the following.
6min cross trainer to warm up the body
6mins stretching and warming up each shoulder.
3 times a week i do some rotator work

Do you get bad pain from specific exercises or just every workout?

It's pretty much every workout but this week it seems to be a lot less than last week, 50% (knock on wood).
I have been warming up more, rotator cuff exercises mostly.
One thing I forgot that may have made a difference is I did about 2 weeks worth of winny ending about the same time or a week before the pain started. I know it's known for drying out joints.
Also I have been reading some interesting stuff in regards to cholesterol medication I started about a month ago and I think ending today.

Give it some time and take some glucosimine and other supps for now just to see if it helps also massage the area for good blood flow its easy for me as i use a machine for this but if you think it could be from the winny just give it some time go lighter then usual and see where you stand next week. you know your own body better then anyone so listen to it but goodluck i hope it heals

Well I started PT this week. First apt wasnt much. 2nd apt seems much better, he is doing some stretching that ishelping quite a bit. It hurts a little but not bad and is getting a lot more range of motion out of it than I am tropically. I do recommend i for a try at least.

I agree with trying one out but, I had gone through about 4 of them in just the last few months. They kept rotating them for different reasons.

I should of listened to my body more and not let them manipulate me every way they wanted too. The first one I went through she wanted to check my ROM and because I let her do it and let her use a lil force it aggravated my injury severely. I couldn't feel it as much at the time. When I went home and started my yoga stretches, my back let go and I wasn't even able to do stretches for almost a week and a half. After that I explained what happened and they are more careful and if I don't feel comfortable letting them push me to my extreme I ask to try something else. I am learning more all the time what aggravates me the most....

    Hope this helps...

Agreed. Well the guy I have been seeing (only 2x so far) first thing he said was if it hurts dont do it. He also always reminds me to let him know if anything hurts. So for only some more stretching and ultra sound. I actually have more movement than I previously did and the pain seems a little worse? We will see for a couple of weeks before I make any kind of decision on if it's helping or not.

may be aggravating your injury. Laying on my back with knees bent they were rotating my legs left and right causing a twisting motion of the spine. When I went home and did seated hamstring stretches, the sharp knock your wind out of u pain came. So them doing one thing aggravated it and me doing a different motion worsened it, debilitated me for awhile, I layed there and cried like a girl for a couple hours, more cuz i was so pissed and that they have hindered my progress.

The ultrasound provided temp relief, but they even told me, it's only temp relief. Kept me pain free for a day almost two and then pain just comes back. So if u getting ultrasound and feel good then they manipulate u, u may not feel how much damage done for a couple days....I know having back injuries will make u try anything to get better and get relief. You are no stranger to adversity my friend. Be safe and good luck!

Time for an update. I did PT for a few weeks with minor improvement. I started doing contrast therapy on my own at work but not quite like the do it for the pros since I dont have a big tub of ice water and hot water available. I use ice pack and heat pack rotating on/off 20 minutes at a time or so 3 or 4 times in a row. I think this helped. I also was doing the typical cable rotator cuff exorcises and this seemed to help quite a bit.

I got an MRI done and the new doctor said I have minor Labral tears and the tendon Impingement along with quite a bit of arthritis. Overall he said NO surgery unless it gets worse. Luckily after 3 months of it being bad and getting worse it's starting to get better. It's a lot better than it was a month ago or more. Obviously the shoulder is one of those things that take a LONG time to heal so to anyone out there DONT rush into surgery. It took a LONG time for my other shoulder to get batter also, almost a year before it was 90%+ but that's still better than most surgeries.

No going back to my old doctor since he was willing/wanting to do surgery without even seeing an MRI yet.

Well since my last post I have tried most everything I can think of and it's really not getting any better. Most every/any supplement, physical therapy, ART therapy, chiropractic, deep tissue massage, injections of Alflutops and nothing has worked. Going to the doctor tomorrow to see if we have missed anything or if it's time to go under the knife.

My older sister keeps pushing for full shoulder repla***ent. She has had both hips done and now her shoulder and says it's better than new but???

Did he mean arthritis in glenohumeral joint or ac joint. There is a huge difference in how each is treated. Ur way to young for shoulder repla***ent. It would end ur upper body lifting

Cortisone shots may cause more damage then good if you go beyond the 3 recommended shots. 3 or less is not supposed to have any negative effect and can be beneficial.

Want surgery? No but yes thinking I may have to. Honestly finally after 9mo it's starting to get better? At least it's not as bad as it was. Ill give it a little more time.

My right rotator cuff has been partially torn 3 times. The left has partially torn twice with a torn labrum. I had an orthopedic doc who was the shoulder specialist for the Atlanta Falcons at the time and I begged him for surgery. He said we could fix it with therapy. His PT gave me several exercises to do with bands and it took about 18 months to be pain free but they healed. I do them every workout now as a preventative and so far so good. I wanted to do the standard DB work for the rotator cuff but the doc said the bands are better. I occasionally tweak a shoulder going heavy on the BP but usually they heal up in a week or two. Also I take glucosamine and chondroitin as a double dose each day and I believe they help too. Never had a cortisone shot.

Both shoulders are tight now but pain free. Not bad for 50 years old and still benching heavy. They will heal up but it takes time. Advil was my friend for a long time. Don't give up. Mine healed without surgery.

Time seems to be helping possible along with the Alflutops. The last few weeks I have noticed a change for the better. I have more range of motion, less pain and less snapping, cracking and popping. I'm holding off on the surgery.

Yeah I also do band work daily and cable work when available especially for warm-ups. I had to do the same thing for my right are years ago but it got better quicker. I really though I would end up needing surgery (still might) but it looks like it may have turned the corner for the positive.

    Update

Well it's been almost a year since my injury. Although the pain is a lot less my strength has gone down a lot due to not being able to lift properly and it still makes a lot of popping and crunching noises. Although it feels like I can start working out without pain more than I could a year ago or even 2 months ago it's still just not right and I'm pretty sure a year from now I would be kicking myself for not getting the surgery done same as I am now withing I got it done a year ago.

Surgery is scheduled for April 17th. Wish me luck...
