there not bad as such PWO, but they're not great. their mostly fructose and fibre. they are fine for most people, but there are better choices for PWO carbs.

and dont listen to this guy Tlee...hes against taking protein shakes! their not an excellent PWO source, they're mediocre at best.

Most will tell you to stay away from simple carbs post workout and stick with complex carbs.

The starch in bananas also turns into glucose and sucrose ...just so you know.
They are a fine post work out choice for many. Surely better imo than the mega doses of simple sugars like dextrose that many use.

I don't know where you ever got the idea that they're BAD; they're not. It's just that there are much better sources available IMO, so they're not ideal. However, a banana + something more substantial (oats for example) would be a great PWO carb combo.

PS - I don't know how much converts to glucose/sucrose vs. fructose, but regardless, I agree with Jimmy on that being better than dumping straight sugar (dex/malto) right into your system.

What else do you consume (carbs) along with the banana? I doubt it's just the banana by itself. Surely a man of your stature is getting more than 25g-ish of carbs PWO!

No need to flame or have an attitude about it. I think we can all have an educated conversation without resorting to this kind of trash.

The links you posted in the other thread have been deleted - read the thread. You cant post links.
Also , I have no problem with different opinions and everyone is entitled to theirs. Im not sure who you are to tell people they are uneducated and spewing filth because they happen to not agree with you. Its not just here , you have done so in a few threads with a few different people. Im not saying I agree or disagree with your opinions - thats not the point. Your perception that your opinion (whether shared by others or not) is fact and the only correct option is not very prudent. It leads to close minded ignorance - the very thing you accuse others of.
    Just a thought.....
Carry on but please watch the personal insults - that applies to everyone but your responses seem to include insulting comments and incite them in return....
Calm down , have a chocolate milk shake *LOL* j/k.......

I stick with whey, oats, banana and creatine. I find this combination to suit my body but I do change it around depending on the workout.but that's my basic start for ten.

Looks like we have the same PWO meal except I add in about 3-4g of beta alanine and 1000mg vit c. Have you tried beta alanine...thoughts?

It really exerts little effects in the way of NO. Thats hype used by supp companies.
The direct benfit of BA is that it increases carnosine levels.
Carnosine is definately a powewrful anti oxidant and is concentrated in skelatal muscle so it prevents oxidative damage in muscle. It also does this in the nervous system as well.
The next benfit of carnosine and the one that supp companies hang their hat on most (NO being the second) is that it was shown in one study on rats that increased carnosine resulted in increased contractile force in muscle and decreased fatigue.
The tingling is known as parathesia and must be from BA exerting some effects on nerves. Usually after a couple weeks of use the tingling stops.

y do u take beta PWO? its usually a pre-WO stim. i love it, been taking it for about 3 months pre-WO and its pretty cheap (i get 1kg for about €20 and u only need 2g usually, i take 4g). some people hate the jitters u get from it, it could be a placebo thing because i dont know of any actuall research that it benefits ur workout but for me its a staple supp.

Some get this, some don't...it has never made me tingle. Like Jimmy said it should go away after a few weeks.

correct, beta alanine is found in a lot of preworkout stims. I take it before and after my workout as I take my creatine the same way. The reason I do this is because it works synergetically w/ creatine so a little before and after works for me.
