    Triceps extensions...

Ok just curious on the thoughts of doing this exercise.

My opinion- Never come up more then eye height(the bar), but keeping impecable form and also when I extent I try to get a good squeeze. Basically when i bend my elbows and the bar is coming up right when I feel the pull, where my elbows would leave my sides I blast back down.

Someone elses- doesn't matter that you keep your elbows at your side, form is important but not a must, when the bar gets to the top of your head thats when you pull it back down.

Ok just to clarify this is cables with the Triangle bar.

    Any inputs???

If my elbows are at my sides, and i lift my hand up, they come up to my shoulders. How are you getting them up to your eyes?

I always keep the top of my arms perpindicular to the ground. I bring my hands up to probably about 45* past parallel to the ground and explode back down.

the bar man never comes up more then eye level and its a triangle. Im basically right with ya on this, but I wait and once its going up so high that I get a stretch in the tricep and my elbows are trying to leave my sides I blast back down.

Pretty much the same just different technique.

Anyone else got any different input?

I am a form freak and make sure that I never move my elbows at all. I use both rope and v bar on push downs. I squat down a little to do mine and seem to get a little better ROM. The squeeze at the bottom is so crucial in my mind. I like it when they feel like they have a charley horse! I also use strict timing. No explosion no jerky or fast movements. I use respectable wieght and not only can it hurt you but it isn't as good of an overall result.

I do them as well but not with the bar, I do it with the single hand holds and do 1 arm at a time. If I use a bar my elbows get a beating.... They are nice and you can get a killer squeeze and pump, usually when I do triceps I do them till failure so these exercises are some of the ones that do it in besides my own way of doing skull crushers

Try reverse grip bench press on the decline...I've been using these the last couple weeks and they are a killer.

Yeah, at my gym, the cables don't have enough weight for me, so i usually do extensions to warm up, and then skull crushers, weighted dips, and reverse or close grip bench.

dips and good form skull crushers are no doubt my money movements for tris.

close grip bench is nice also

Sometimes when doing cable tri extensions i'll turn around and bend forward and it helps get a better stretch on my tris. feels really good.
