Brown rice has basically the same GI index as white rice, but what are you goals? what you can eat all depends on your goals.  Are you just trying to eat healthy than fvck ya brown rice and whole wheat bread are fine.  I totally agree with you that a lot of the diet advice put up here is way to hard core and more geared total complete devouters to lifting.  There people out there who, like me, just enjoy lifting, i eat healthy, not stupid healthy and when i want mcdonandls i have some, and when i want cake and ice cream ill have some of that too.  the key is moderation and working my ass off when im in the gym.
