Not necessarily. Upping the calories helps build muscle and fat. The cardio helps to keep your heart “up to speed” with your additional load- weight.
I gained 30 lbs and I needed to start cardio to keep my heart condition up to the weight I was carrying around.
If he were to be cycling, he would be even more effective at the cardio decreasing the fat %. In other words he would be adding muscle and fat and essentially just removing fat. NOTE: this is high level and there are many more factors.
My opinion- enlarged heart isn’t caused from steroids, it is caused from the additional weight these guys are carrying around. Yes the heart is a muscle and AAS may play a small role.
