If you've been treated for hypertension for years, it may be time for for a tweak in your BP meds. Personally, I don't like Valsartan, but I do well with Atacand/ Candesartan.
For one thing, you could lower your dose of T if your serum value is 1050 ng/dL....at least on a trial basis. Make sure to split the dosage into 2 injections per week.
One other thought, I didn't do well with Spironolactone. It seemed to lose effectiveness. Maxzide (Triameterene/HCTZ) did me much better.
I've had readjust some of my meds over the years. Will be 59 this year.
Edit: I know you watch your sodium intake, but watch out for hidden sodium in processed food. The bastards will really load up processed foods.
Out of curiosity, how active are you? Any significant physical activity, cardio, etc?
