2008 ncaa preseason mag's
ok, here's my annual college football preason thread. i picked up the athlon magazine and here is their top 25.
1. florida
2. ohio state
3. oklahoma
4. southern cal
5. georgia
6. missouri
7. west virginia
8. auburn
9. lsu
10. clemson
11. texas
12. wisconsin
13. kansas
14. byu
15. arizona state
16. illinois
17. tennesse
18. texas tech
19. oregon
20. south florida
21. virginia tech
22. rutgers
23. penn state
24. wake forest
25. fresno state
i can't find alot to bitch about these rankings and after all they are meaningless but it gives us something to talk about. i don't know about florida being #1 but i do like them ahead of georgia and maybe ohio state plus they do have a guy under center named tim tebow so maybe they should be preseason #1. one thing for sure is that the top 4 teams are downright loaded and all could be scary teams. florida and oklahoma are both young teams but they do have some senior leadership + they both have not good but great qb's, tough defenses and playmakers that have speed, speed and more speed. i think ohio state is a "for real" top 5 team but i just don't think they can go out to l.a. and beat southern cal. if they thought florida and lsu had some team speed they won't know what to do with southern cal but i hope the buckeyes beat those cheatin bastards. there are 2 teams outside the top 10 that i think could be in the top 10 when the season's over and that is arizona state and texas tech. alright fellas i've done enough jabberin and i'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions on this preason ranking.

Rankings shouldn't even come out until the BCS rankings come out (week 8?). The rest of the rankings mean nothing and just give people reasons to debate stupidity.

Southern cal, cheating bastards? Ha! What because Reggie Bush got money from his agent USC cheats? Not only does it have nothing to do with USC, but I got news for you..... it goes on at EVERY top tier program. How bout Rhett Bomar?

are you comparing rhett bomar getting paid a COUPLE THOUSAND dollars extra at the place where he actually worked to a kid getting almost 300,000 f*ckin dollars and a house for his parents! are you kidding? and yes it has everything to do with southern cal and how could you even say it doesn't because they know what's going on and no it doesn't go on like that everywhere else. adrian peterson was loaned a car to drive for a day, one freakin day and the ncaa was all over it wanting to know what's going on. i guarantee you adrian peterson or anybody else didn't get paid any significant amount of money while he was at ou because the ncaa has a magnafying glass on norman oklahoma and has for 20 years. yes the university of southern cal are cheating bastards and the proof is there and they should pay big time in the near future if there is any justice. in the meantime they should worry about beating powerhouse stanford.

A couple thousand for a lot of hours of work? As I recall it was closer to 40 thousand for a couple hours of work. And the difference was Bomar was employed by a BOOSTER, someone related to the school. Bush was involved with an agent. If Tim Tebow took money from nike for endorsements should Florida be punished? And if you dont think that its not going on at every major program, you are insane.

Check that, it was actually 8,000 dollars for 0 hours of work. Where can I find a job like that? Oklahoma I guess......

well your just all kinds of wrong. lol! is it 40k or 8k? actually it was a little over 6k that bomar was overpaid at a place he DID work and it was for a car lot that was NOT a booster. bob stoops kicked a 5 star qb who had the talent to be an all-american off the team with no questions asked the day he found out what happend and the rest is history. we are comparing stealing a pack of gum to robbing a bank with a gun.

The lot was owned by a booster, and yeah he was on the payroll, that doesnt mean he actually set foot on the lot and put in hours. Bomar himself said that after he was named the starter, the lot manager told him not to worry about reporting for work. He also said a school administrator "basically guided us to go there". So not only were boosters involved, so were school personnel. The amount was actually $7,406.86 to be exact, but he was also paid in cash so who knows how much it really was. And breaking the rules is breaking the rules, whether it was $50 or $50 million. You are basically saying that USC should be punished for a kid making deals with an outside entity, yet OU shouldnt be punished for players making deals with boosters and administrators because the kids were dismissed from the team. Yeah, that makes it all gravy.....

i was living in oklahoma when this happened and it was all over the news and it was talked about for weeks after it happened. there was also an offensive lineman involved also and the 6k was between both of them. they were both pissed off at the university of oklahoma after they were kicked off the team and being kids they both made up bullsh*t like an administrator "basically guided us to go there". a lie. if that were true the administator would have been fired and hauled off to the state line and would have been told to never step foot in this state again. nobody was fired because no administator was involved or any other school personel. no deals were made. lol! that's rediculous. outside entity? hah! breaking the rules is breaking the rules? i disagree strongly. touching a girl on the ass and rape are both sexual assualt. are they the same? shoving someone to the ground and beating someone into a coma are both physical assault. are they the same? i think my point has been made clearly. yes i say southern cal should be punished and so does everybody else who is unbiased.

Booster = connected to the school. He is looking out for Oklahoma Sooner football. An agent could give a shit what school the kid goes to, he is out to make money for himself. That's a big difference. And stop saying 6k, it was over 7
And heres something interesting for you- College Football's Dirtiest Programs:
#1 Texas Tech
#2 Oklahoma
#3 Texas A&M
#4 Alabama
#5 Kentucky
#6 Cal
#7 Washington
#8 Auburn
#9 Oklahoma St
#10 Miami

i like your list. you do hate the big boys from the big12 don't ya. what the hell has osu or texas tech ever done? i know, nothing. in fact miami is the ONLY one that would belong on your "dirty list". kentucky? that's funny. and bomar did receive 6k and not 40k like you stated which was completely inacurate just like everything else you have posted. i'm sure the total from the paychecks for both players is over 7 but i am refering only to bomar. the only time ou's progran has ever been in question was 20 years ago at the end of the switzer era when the roster was chock full of kids from california. that issue was resolved and bob stoops takes no bullshit from any players and runs as clean a program as you possibly can.

Actually the ONLY thing I have said that was inaccurate was about the 40k, and that was what I remembered. I looked it up and corrected myself 5 minutes later, why do you keep bringing that up? If you dont know about the programs on that list and the rules they have violated, then you obviously dont pay much attention to college football, so why are you even bothering to argue? And what model Lexus was Adrian Peterson driving around town again? Like I said before, EVERY program breaks the rules. USC isn't even close to the top.......

i brought your 40k statement up a couple times to remind you of your complete ignorance. loaning someone a car to drive is not an ncaa violation and when peterson was told never to do it again it just shows how far the university goes to run a respectable and clean program which it very much is. a top 10 dirtiest program list is nothing more than an opinion and you could see 1,000 of them and all 1,000 of them would be different and YES southern cal will be near or at the top of an unbiased list. you can't babysit players 24/7 and they are kids and they will and do make mistakes but some universities accept responsability and take action and discipline into their own hands (ou) and some don't (usc). saying i "obviously don't pay attention to college football" and saying you had only 1 inaccurate statement shows even more ignorance. i don't dissagree about every program to some extent has had violations but the ncaa has turned a cheek to some schools breaking the rules and attacked others for much lesser rules infractions. anyway i'm ready for some football and done with this.

judge joan lewis ruled that a civil suit against bush will proceed in open court. "bush could lose his heisman trophy and WHEN A TIE TO USC IS ESTABLISHED THE UNIVERSITY WILL FACE SANCTIONS". the ncaa and pac10 have been investigating for more than two years.
the almost $4,000 apartment that matt leinart and dwayne jarrett shared that violated ncaa rules but southern cal is investigating and i'm sure they will take care of it.
heard of o.j. mayo?
this is just the last few years.
i've never debated violations to some degree happen everywhere but some schools man up and some don't it's that simple. a perfect example happened friday when bob stoops kicked a very highly touted reciever from georgia off the team because of a somewhat checkered past and he was told superstar or not you will be an upstanding young man as an oklahoma sooner and he failed to do so and now he's gone. anyway we are 4 weeks away from kickoff!

Do you know the story behind the "nearly $4,000 apartment"? At any rate, Im excited the season finally started, and can't wait for Sep 13th when OSU comes out to Los Angeles. Should be a great game. Howd you like that Pac 10 ass whooping that UCLA just put on the overrated SEC?

the only thing about the apartment i know is that it was almost 4k a month and it did in fact violate ncaa rules and there is an investigation. i have to admit i was hoping ucla would pull that game out because as you know i'm sick of hearing SEC!SEC!SEC! which i heard the vol's fans chanting during the pregame. i wonder if there were any SEC! chants on the flight home? i'm shocked that georgia and arkansas scheduled arizona state and texas because it's fact that the SEC! does not schedule games against teams from the west. if the SEC! goes 0-3 or 1-3 in these games which they are heavy favorites in these games sending there top tier teams mind you and not vandy or mississippi state i would have to say that they will no longer play teams west of the mississippi and keep everybody fooled into thinking they are some god of football like they seem to think they are. i'm not fooled and they are just another good conference that has been over hyped and they are now being exposed. they don't have much to say when i ask them how one of their top dogs got beat by a second rate pac10 team with their 3rd qb (that's emberrassing)
