I have always taken glutamine after workouts with the post workout shake as well. After an intense workout glutamine levels within the body are reduced to as much as 50%. Glutamine supplementation is needed to help reduce the breakdown of muscle tissue. It also helps with protein metabolism. Anyone correct me if I am wrong.....

Only thing about taking it PWO is it will compete with the whey for absorption.

Your PWO shake should have more than enough glutamine in the amino acid profile of the whey protein you are using. My PWO shake has ~8.5 grams of glutamine in it, so there is obviously no need to go out and buy glutamine powder for me...

BTW, if your whey protein powder doesn't have an amino acid profile somewhere on the product label, IMO you shouldn't trust the company making the protein...

Im guessing that glutamic acid is what they are meaning by precursors to glutamine. AllTheWhey.com is where i get my protein and i can say enough how good overall this stuff is. I love my strawberry powder with dextrose, its like treat after my workout...

Amen to that !
IMHO I like adding 100 gr. of carbs in my PWO shake, Your body just needs it
Then he should be aroung 150 carbs
500 grams per Hard training day
300 on a easy training day
resting day, only protein shake and my creatine breakfast & before bed = around 2x 150 carbs
its amazing how your body works if you eat more sugar than skipping sugar and think that the Atkins diet might work

Atkin's is a stupid a$$ diet. Eat fatty meat products all day long and eliminate carbs from your diet, yeah real good idea. The guy who invented it (Dr. Atkins) died from a heart attack...
