    Truth Bout Few Supps.

Amino acids and protein powders have been pushed as "muscle builders".
Muscle are only 20% protein. Excess protein gets converted into fat. So not only will you fail to lose weight or gain muscle, you probably will gain fat.

Creatine has failed to show its effectivness outside the lab setting. Gastrointestinal disturbances and muscle cramping have been reported. But the greater concern is how excess creatine will affect organs later on in the future. Creatine is found in foods, we do not need even more! The expense of using weight adjustment supps, in terms of your health and money, far outweighs any unlikely beneficial effects.

i want to see some backup of this information. protein and amino acids do build muscle and creatine has been well documented to help aid is strength and muscle building. regardless, i as well as tons of members on this board have used creatine for good effects.

I believe it was from docs and military instructors.

    See thats just it.

The books I got, they fail to back much of anything up.

    The workouts are hardcore

but I myself have used creatine and noticed a differnece.

But then again, there has been an ongoing debate over creatine and heart issues...the heart, being a muscle, and creatine, loading muscles up with water to make them bigger....ccan lead to heart problems in future.

idk...i just use it short term though....

the heart is a different kinda of muscle than say your biceps and quads...cardiac muscle vs fibrous muscle tissue...dont know if it makes a difference or not

yeah, thats what I was telling my bro when he brought it up to me.

It seems like being different, it wouldnt effect the heart, but then again who really knows..only time will tell.

Cardiac cells are unique in structure and function and are found ONLY in the heart. Composed mainly on smooth muscle cells, which are special cause they allow for the shunting of blood to distribute blood flow, not that that really has any application to BB-ing, just some FYI.

Skeletal Muscle are bound together to for skelatal muscle, which attach to bones across one or more joints. This is the only type of muscle that is under voluntary control, and causes movement at the joints, therefore movement of the body.

Skeletal muscle is composed of slow twich (type 1) muscle fibers, or slow-oxidative fibers, and are special because of their high mitochondria content and high aerobic capabilty.

Fast twitch (type 2) fibers are referred to as "fast oxidative", and all though they do have oxidative properties, they dont have the endurance or aerobic capability of slow twitch fibers.

If you want to know more I suggest you go out and buy a book on neuromusclular anatomy and physiology.

so whats your take on the whole creatine/enlargening of the heart debate?

two different muscle cells. cardiac muscle and arteries are mainly composed of smooth muscle not skeletal muscle. But im gonna do some research into it.

There have been more studies that show the effectivness and benefits of a Protein/Carb drink post workout and Creatine pre/post workout than there has been in studies that show the ineffectiveness of those two supplements.
They are the bread and butter of supplements, I get good results from both.
