VPX NO Shotgun Report
All right, you guys in the supps forum know I'm big on Vitargo CGL. IMO, there's no better Post WO creatine supp. I added some powdered BCAAs to the mix and it's a great combo.
But what about Pre WO supps? Well, I gave a few different ones a try, most notably BSN NO Xplode, which is crap. The ingredients in NO Xplode actually work against each other, so the "Insane Pumps" it promises don't occur. Yes, it will get you buzzing, but so will a couple shots of espresso.
Anyhow, chuck89gt5.0 suggested VPX NO Shotgun in a different supp thread. I had to order it from the US, 'cause I couldn't locate a distributor over here in Sushi Land, but it arrived in a week and I used it for the first time this morning. Let me give you a rundown...
6 AM - Woke up, got ready for the gym
6:20 - Took 5g BCAA (usual time/dosage)
6:40 - Took one serving of VPX NO Shotgun (NOS) for the first time. Okay, it tastes like very sweet apple pie filling with cinnamon. I don't care for sweet things, so I didn't like the taste but fvck it - I care more about the efficacy.
6:55 - Arrived at the station and walked to Gold's. As I was walking, I began to feel euphoric and happy, probably from the Redline that's in NOS.
7:00 - Good to go. Today's training menu: rear delts, middle back, and biceps.
7:10 - After a couple of warm up sets of incline bench one-arm rear laterals, my rear delts began to swell and get warm from the increased blood flow. Yeah, baby! My first heavy set was 4 reps with 75 lb dumbells. Then immediately dropped to 65s for 6 reps. Next set used the 50s for 9 reps and immediately dropped to 35s for 6 ultra controlled reps with a 3 second pause at the top. The pump was so powerful that it bordered on painful.
I won't bore you with the details, but by the time I finished my last set of curls I could not extend my arm in a straight line and I could barely bend my arm to touch my nose. The pump was AWESOME!! I know it was insane, because: a) my XL under armour loose fit t-shirt was stretching, and b) the Gold's trainer told me that I was noticeably bigger than usual after working out. Took my Vitargo CGL w/ BCAAs upon leaving at 8:35.
8:45 - Got home and my wife asked if I was wearing an extra sweatshirt. I took off my single layer hoodie and she said "DAMN!!"
By the time I taught my first uni class at 10:45, I was still pumped, but slowly going down. At lunch, I was still a bit pumped and stayed like that for the rest of the day.
chuck89gt5.0...everything you said about NO Shotgun is true. I got an awesome pump and didn't feel as jittery as when I used NO Xplode. I can't wait to train chest and triceps tomorrow!!

Just got back from the gym. Had an outstanding workout and the pumps are wicked. When I got into the heavy set for my first exercise (incline dumbell presses), I felt more blood flow in the upper chest and a lot more pumped than usual. By the end of my workout, I could barely bend my arms and it was an effort just to touch my hands in front of my chest. The tri's got so pumped, my UA shirt sleeves were stretching. NO Shotgun is the bomb!!
If I had one complaint - it works too good. The pumps are edging towards painful and it's difficult to bend or extend fully at the end of the workout, but jeez what a great feeling.

Dang...sounds like good stuff. I might ditch my Pre-WO stuff for this. Thanks for the reviews!
And also...if I pick up some Vitargo CGL, how long will the larger size last me?Last edited by BlueCollar24; 11-24-2006 at 09:12 PM.

I think NO Xplode should switch labels with NO Shotgun, because NO Shotgun truly delivers insane pumps. In 21 years of lifting, I have NEVER experienced such pumps. I'm in a bulking cycle now, but I can see more veins under the surface of my skin. When I start cutting in January, my vascularity is gonna look like a road map.

Oh, and I don't believe in pre-loading the creatine. I think that's just a way for the supp. companies to get you to buy more supps.

This sounds like one bad ass supp. I might have to look into it, i noticed you are bulking, wonder what it would be like while cutting?

I know these seems like a really dumb question, but with bigger/more pumps, this will allow for lifting heavier weight? Or something else?

I would'nt go that far, but i am sure the extra "boost" it gives you that you might put up some higher numbers. So far from what i have read in the last 20minutes or so, this is good stuff.***No source checks!!!***

1 serving = 2 scoops?!?!?! damn. VPX generally comes out with solid stuff but cost per serving burns a hole in my pocket. i may just try this but at half a serving or simply on days I train.

Okay...looks like some people are misreading an earlier post in this thread. Someone asked about the Vitargo CGL serving size, which is 2 scoops. The serving size for NO Shotgun is 1 scoop.
Vitargo CGL you take every day. NO Shotgun is only used on your workout days. I work out four times per week (2 on/2 off/2 on/1 off), so NO Shotgun should last me 7 1/2 weeks. Pretty good.
As far as strength increases, I have gone up a little. On Saturday, during my last set of tricep pressdowns, I was using the stack (200 lbs) plus a 15 kg plate. A couple weeks before this I was using the stack plus a 5 kg plate. I am bulking right now as well. But since I started using Vitargo CGL, I gained 15 pounds in two months (190 to 205). Bf went from 8% to 12%, but I wanted to put on a little fat for the bulking anyway. Strength has gone up as well (incline bench was 295 x 3 reps, 5 sec rest drop set 275 x 4, 5 sec rest drop set 250 x 4).
Today was lateral/front delts, lats, and traps. First exercise was one arm dumbell upright rows. 35 x 12 warmup, 45 x 12 warmup, 55 x 12 warmup, 75 x 8 heavy set, 5 sec rest drop set 60 x 10, 50 x 12 hold peak contraction with 5 sec negative. My delts were definitely gorged after this. Next was one arm cable laterals, then Strive machine overhead presses. By the time I finished with the Strive machine I couldn't lock out my arms because my delts were so pumped.
Moved over to the Flex lat pulldown machine for wide grip pulldowns. 150 x 12 warmup, 185 x 12 warmup, 240 x 7, 240 + 15kg plate x 3, 5 sec rest drop set 225 x 10 peak contraction. Next used the cable crossover machine for one arm reverse grip pulldowns. Then did barbell shrugs and one arm dumbell alternating shrugs.
The pump was outstanding and my lats felt so wide that I could fly. I thought my traps were gonna explode as well. Of course I'm exaggerating here, but the pumps are really insane. Remember that I'm using Vitargo CGL as well, but I wasn't getting as pumped as I am now that I've added NO Shotgun.

Question, can both of these supps be used for cutting? I noticed you mentioned bulkin a few times.

If so, then yes. Just so you're clear, NO Shotgun also contains creatine.

You can cut while taking these supps. Your cardio and diet will largely determine cutting. Are you a competitive bodybuilder or just do you just want to have a six pack? I have cut down to 7-8% bf while on creatine, which was low enough for what I wanted (a nice six pack). However, if you're cutting for a bb'ing comp, then you'll probably want to drop creatine supps at some point. A few serious bb'ers on this forum use plain Vitargo (no creatine) while cutting.
