    Supplement help

I usually use the optimum gold standard whey protein with carbo gain but I can only drink it with milk. Just the smell of it with water makes me want to vomit. So my question is, is there a legit protein shake/drink that mixes with water well? I want to stay away from chocolate/vanilla favors.
Reason I am asking this is because I read that the muscles will absorb the protein faster with water rather than milk. Plus the milk just kinda fills me up and doesn't allow me to eat as much.
Also, is it better to drink a protein shake after a workout or before or both?
I am only trying to bulk. I am 6'3 230lbs 15% bf. Lifted for 5 years and I am 21.
Any suggestions on supplements to help me get up to my goal of 240 would greatly be appreciated.

There are plenty of whey proteins out there that mixes very well with water. However, you have to beware; a) water needs to be cold, b) you should put the water into your shaker first, then protein, c) shake for at least 10 sec. to get the best result.

My personal experience dictates that all Dymatize Nutrition Iso-100, Ultimate Nutrition Whey Concentrate and Gaspari Nutrition Myofusion brands have delivered great results when mixed only with cold water.

You don't have to worry about how fast protein is absorbed. The whole speed thing is the BS of supplement industry, frankly. When your muscle fibers are subjected to hypertrophy, recovery is never an instant process as supplement brands claim it is. Your body goes through various physiological processes over time, as in days, not as in seconds and minutes per se. Thus, if you like it with milk and don't want to drink it with milk anymore only due to the claim that absorption rate is an issue, I say don't bother with it, because it is not relevant at all. However, I agree with you on milk filling you up and killing your appetite for the next meal, same here.

Studies show that best results delivered by consumption of protein shake is dividing your daily dose into two portions of pre and post-workout. That is, instead of drinking 50gr post-WO, you are better off drinking 25gr pre-WO and same amount post-WO. Abundance of free-form amino acids in blood stream delivers favorable effects such as more muscular growth, better pumps, increased blood flow, higher endurance during workouts and etc. Moreover, specialists in the medical field in the past have strictly advised me to stay away from overwhelming portions of fast-acting protein since apparently unfavorable effects regarding kidney health may occur.

My suggestion regarding supplements to you would be like this:

    1. Stop consuming whey concentrate and switch to whey isolate.

    2. Start using Micronized Creatine Monohydrate. 10gr post-WO inside your protein shake and same amount on empty stomach with a glass of water during off days is the protocol you should follow.

    3. Multi-vitamins, fish oils and Co Enzyme Q10 are also recommended. ZMA, Beta-Alanine and Caffeine tabs can be also very beneficial.

    4. Always stay away from fancy supplements, since they have a wallet thinning effect with no results. Test-boosters in general are worth shit, for instance. Stay away from everything that has an overwhelming and ridiculous title such as ''pink magic'' or ''anabolic halo,'' regardless of the producer.

I am currently using Dymatize Nutrition ISO-100, isolate whey protein, there are absolutely none of the chemicals in it as mentioned above and it spares you protein farts since there are no peptides or lactose in it. It is also gluten free...

I have a question for you: if an organic substance such as Hemp is once processed at a facility and transformed into a powdered form of protein, how is it important that hemp was organic to begin with?

I use the same brand of protein and typically drink 3 shakes a day and it mixes great with water for me. 1 drink in morning after breakfast 1 pre and one post workout. Go to ur local gnc or walmart and buy some hand held blenders or simply mix into cup then pour into a water bottle and shake.

Don't go to GNC for anything and 3 shakes a day is excessive. Are you meeting your caloric and macro needs without them?

    Agree on both points.

I havent used shakes in a few years. Best results I've gotten were from whole food.
