    Too much cardio?

Im not trying to lose weight and burn so many calories. If I do cardio on a treadmill or stepmaster for example, I would do maybe 10 minutes. Sometimes I go and shoot ball, since I joined the local YMCA with my fiance 2 months ago. Is there anything wrong not doing so much cardio after my workouts? Im 6ft and weigh about 165 lbs. My goal is to get upto at least 185-190lbs. I know it will take time, but Im determined. I just need to eat like a dirty caveman.

If you keep your heart at or below 65% mhr than you should not sacrifice muscle only fat therefore any gains would be lbm. I also think 10 mins is not really enough to burn a whole lot of weight anyways.

To me it sounds like you're fine. after you workout you need to have some post workout (PWO) nutrition within 45 minutes. so depending on how much ball you play, you might want to bring a protein shake with you.

You aren't burning fat anyways in the first 10 minutes... 10 minutes of cardio after workouts is just basically enough to allow you to stretch your muscles post workout.

he is still increasing his total calorie expenditure for the day though, so providing is calorie input is less, then he will still lose weight

I dont' see any mention of the change in caloric intake. Not to mention that cutting down on total caloric intake alone will not cause a weight reduction. Since I saw nothing in his post about calorie intake I didn't go in this direction and stuck with just what he asked in regards to... would the extra cardio of 10 minutes per day be ok or would it be too much causing him to lose weight.

If we want to get into the issue of caloric intake, it depends on what kind of foods he is eating and the frequency. Eating too few calories and too few meals will cause your metabolism to drop and would not result in weight loss. I didn't see a mention of the type of food or any questions to that regard so I'm a little confused by your response G-Force. If you could shed some light on what you were reading that I'm not, I would appreciate it.
