leg muscles burning during cardio ok?

well, used to jog a lot for my cardio but in attempts to get better results, i'm varying up my cario with stair-climbing and bike-riding. however, since it's been literally years since i've done either, my legs burn like hell when doing them even at 140bpm.

now, supposedly when you get that bad burn like that you're pushing past your anaerobic threshold, yet my hr averages about 135-142bpm while i'm doing it, which would seem well within a reasonable range for aerobic cardio. during jogging, i can bring my cardio up to 150-160 easy and my legs don't really burn much at all. so, just wondering if since i'm getting that bad burn i might be pushing into the anaerobic state and burning muscle protein or if i'll still be burning fat despite the severe burn and my legs will simply adjust?

well i know that, but i just wanted to make sure that pushing them through it like i am now isn't going to burn of significant amounts of protein in the process prior to them adjusting. trying to conserve as much muscle mass as possible while burning the bodyfat.

My legs burn if I run or jog fast on the treadmill. I slow it down to a fast walk so I don't overtrain my legs.

Dang bro, tons of threads. You trying to learn things so u can start advising others?

I saw your thread on wanting to be a trainer. It's best to know these things for yourself and how they work in real life before you intstruct others.

    Good luck,

well actually at this point i'm just trying to learn a few things about the cardio i'm doing for myself right now to make sure i'm optimally burning fat while minimizing muscle loss. naturally though it's something i would be looking to pass onto others. however, if i can keep from having to learn from my own mistakes by learning from others, what's wrong with that? just trying to find the most efficient way to accomplish what it is i'm looking to accomplish.

as far as instructing others, i had done so for 8years up until 2years ago where i started moving around and temporarily changed professions. though i admittedly may not be as knowledgeable as you, i am certainly far better than most trainers you find in gyms IMO. just look at some of the advice given to people on this board by trainers they talk to in their gyms. i know how to get results, but if someone can tell me how to get results better, faster, or more efficiently, i'm always all ears.

i'm just always anxious to learn more and as you know, you'll read an article in one magazine or internet source telling you one thing, then the next week something will say the complete opposite. i'd trust the feedback from the more highly regarded members, mods, and vets of this board than any other resource i use right now.
