Smile Back from the dead looking for a new hybrid style

Well it's been a long time since I've graced the boards, but it's good to finally to visit again. I'm trying to create a hybrid workout style including more dynamic/functional training and a little weight training as well. What I'd like to do is a three day split having two days dedicated to functional training and one in between using weights, it would look something like so:

    Day 1: Functional (full body)
day 2: Weights (push or pull days)
    Day 3: functional (full body)

Now when I say functional I don't me standard push ups and such but more along the lines of becoming more body strong than gym strong. What I was thinking is was something along the line of medicine ball push ups, chins, rope climbs and others, but my dilemma is that I can't seem to find the thread in the database here that use to contain a bunch of this information. I also remember a video link in a post a long way back about a style of training where a person would follow a circuit style moving to stations every so often and performing exercises such as; ball slams, rope whips (ropes in both hands whipping up and down like a carriage rider) and jump squats.

My training partner and I would be following goals to track our progress such as; beginning with 1 arm med ball push-ups then eventually 2 then with added weight or rope climbing: start by any means possible to get to the top and eventually work our way to climbing the rope without using our feet.

Does anyone have a link to a thread here (I hope it was not deleated, although it was some time ago) or any others that would help with ideas of different exercises similar to this.

    Thanks for any help guys

i dont know if its any help but the august edition of men's health had a pretty cool gymnist workout which was mostly functional, body weight exercises with a little weight training worked in....try googling gymnist workouts, gymnastics looks lame to me but those dudes are definitely ripped and are obviously strong as h*ll
