Lightbulb Building a Barn door Back

    Building a Barn door Back
    Hey guys-How you doing?

I have been thinking, "what are a must do" exercises to build to full developed back.So that you hit the back hard to give it the full shape and size??

    Your input will be appreciated...
    Thanks in advance

Pull ups, deadlifts, bent over barbell rows, and t-bar rows are the staples. anything else, to me, is just to mix things up.

Well, apparently the two guys above don't feel that the deadlift is necessary, but I assure you it is.

For me i have come to use what IMO would be called "basic" exercises to develop back. Deads, pulldowns, bbell rows, seat cable rows...but I think the biggest breakthrough in my back training came early on when i finally learned to isolate back muscle as much as possible so as to not use less stronger bicep muscles. Truly "sqeezing" lats on every rep , allowing shoulders to "roll" forward at the end of the negative part of rep movement giving full stretch to my lats, using the "sqeeze a pencil between your shoulder blades" theory at the end of each rep, and also thinking of hands and arms as hooks and chains, helping remove use of bicep in movement. Then my weights went way up and back grew big time. I guess after all this blabbering on for me it wasnt so much the excercises i used as it was my form, and then by using correct form, the ability to do heavier weights.
