    Questions on knee wraps

Gennelmen, I have always had fragile knees (ongoing patella tendonitis amongst other things) and have moved onto low rep compounds to bring up my strength. This seems to be aggravating my knees again so I was considering using wraps.

As such, I would appreciate your input on the following questions:
    1. Are knee wraps safe? I have very prominent patellas and can't understand how impinging their natural movement is good.
    2. Are they only of benefit when doing heavy squats? I'm thinking heavy leg press...
    3. How long does it take to wrap them up? Surely doing 7 sets means I'll be spending too much time in between sets putting them on and off?

They are safe, you can use them on leg press and not just squats, wrapping both your knees would only take a minute.

I have tendonitis in my knees as well. To much Ice hockey and sports without pads! I use regular slip on wraps for my knee's. I bought them at wally world (walmart). Awesome support for, deads and squats..

I think they are fine and safe, But by wrapping them your compressing them and by supporting the knee joint its not going to get as strong as if would without them, Unless your lifting really heavy i think i would be more beneficial to go lighter with stricter form as oppose to lifting heavy and using knee wraps to protect against injury which it may or may not help against because by compressing it with heavy weight stimulus on the joint it may or may not grind it more and put more pressure on it. but thats just my .02 cents i dont use but know many who do.

PM me and I'll tell you which ones work well for me and some of my cleints.

I would suggest not going as heavy and staying with higher reps for the most part to keep stress off that knee. Also, warm up good with leg ext's before doing compound leg exercises.

Has anyone in the UK come across a place to buy Inzer redline or ATP knee wraps?

I use them for 315 and over on squats.....that's the way i was taught and i've always followed it....everyone can claim all they want about my knees not being strong and my legs not getting as strong or whatever but the facts are that my legs are bigger than anyone's in my gym.

as far as leg press i only use them for crazy shit like 1400+ (depending on the leg press model). I use a pair from prowristwraps right now, the 2m version i think. I like the longer ones because you don't have to worry so much about getting all the knee wrapped up in a couple go rounds. My brothers use the Inzer ones, the shorties, and they love them, so you'll have to figure out what you like.

also of late my knees have been hurting alot so i'm using knee sleeves my whole leg workout and then the wraps on top for heavy squats, just got them last week and i had almost no pain in my knees after about a month of pretty bad pain. Made it so i could train just as hard as I ever have in the past
