    Do these:

I do the superman as a warm up. Deadlifts, then the 'Good morning' for my lower back!.

    Smith Machine Deads:

I stand on a bench with my feet forward under the bar,
I only go down to knee height setting the spot blocks relatively close to that,
then power up leaning backwards a little with the bar slammed against my thighs...

I've done this for a year now... I started with small weight like 2 plates on each side then worked my way up quick after I got the form down perfect...

Now I put 5+ plates on each side and people look at me like I'm crazy...

I've never had any back issues from doing these and my Deadlifts and squats have gone up considerably from having a stronger lower back...

    I highly recommend this exercise.

like everyone else has said. Deadlifts, good morning, rack pulls.

Just grip it and rip it!
