How long to take between switching exercises?

Just trying to get an idea of how much time is too long and how much time to try and not exceed while switching between various exercises?I am currently trying a 3 day split in which I train 2 different muscle groups per workout.

    Day 1 chest & back
    Day 2 shoulders and arms
    Day 3 legs and abs

I am training basically for a bodybuiling physique opposed to endurance or strength and am looking to get an idea on how many sets and exercises should be completed in how much time to reach this goal?I have no idea on what is too short or what is too long?In case it may help I do own a heart rate monitor.Should i wait until i lower down to a certain number or go by the stopwatch alone or both?

Are you talking between sets or between actual exercises? Between sets I usually rest for about a minute but for the heavier compound movements like deads and squats up to 2 minutes because of the extra effort these lifts take. Experiment with what works for you though.
