help for my SUPER tight hamstrings?
I've never been able to just bend down touch my toes. I'm the kinda awkward lanky girl in the back of the pilates class who cant quite get the straight leg up and over the top of her head. I have to bend it. I'll never win the legs behind the ears award at the porn star conference. And that was my fall-back plan so......
I read about so many therapies to TIGHTEN ligaments and tendons after injury. Is there no way to loosen one or two?
Is there anything but just plain stretching that can improve my flexibility?
Everything else on me is hyper flexible, just these hammies won't budge.
any recos?
thanks!

Hiya there mkt!
I have been fortunate enough to be in dance/gymnastics from toddler ~ middle school and remain very flexible, so I am not sure if this advice I’m gonna give you is true or false, but it can’t hurt so ~sitting in the sauna.
I have heard that it helps; and is almost as good as a warm up for the bod
I don’t care for the sauna, makes me feel all claustrophobic-ey ... and so humid I feel like I’m drowning lol, but maybe it will help ya?
other than that I think you prob just need to keep up with the stretching...ballet stretches still/ find them the best.
In my blogs you can find the ballett and martial art stretches that I do and find best ~ check them out
hopefully someone with more scientific approch can give you some feed back
Best of luck chicka

In some cases, stretching the hamstrings may not be enough. You may need to try other methods to loosen tight hamstrings. Applying a hot, moist heat pack wrapped in cloth to your hamstrings for 20 minutes is effective. Massaging the hamstrings will increase blood flow to the muscles and help to get them loose and flexible. If you get that flexability and you can put your legs at the back of your head some posted pics would be good lol good luck

excellent! i'll sauna and stretch in there and will also sit on hot packs and stretch/with massage. i'll post some cringy dork porn shots of me with my legs sort of up.
i'm a rider (horses) and grew up training to the degree a ballerina does but riding (english anyway) it is all legs at a certain angle and heels down. my hams just knotted up and stayed there i guess. my calves stretch like crazy.
scorpion 62, please tell me that's your birth year cuz that might give me hope....

Mkt, I have pulled my hamstring before and my lower back and hamstrings really suffered from it! Some stretches are to have one leg straight on the ground and one leg straight in the air, pull it closer to your self and try touch your head onto ur knee,
But The best stretch for me, u need someone to help to get a really good stretch is to pull ur leg across your body and get someone to lean on ur leg, you will feel it all through your bum and hamstrings, the best way to stretch is to push against, the person pushing you (if that makes sense) hold it, release for 5seconds and then stretch a bit further
