Can you build up a solid chest with Flyes?

The reason I ask is that I have a pinched nerve in my neck so pressing movements are really difficult. My bench press is suffering really bad and I just can't bring it up. My left pec is much larger and more solid than my right. That said, I'm able to use the fly machine without much issue at all and was thinking of making that a core of my chest routine until I can get the pinched nerve squared away. I'm also thinking of adding in a unilateral fly exercise so I can focus more on the right side to try to balance things out a bit.

    Thoughts?

Yes, I can still pound out 100 pushups and dips aren't much of an issue when upright (for triceps) but when leaning forward are difficult.

My opinion, Flys are much better than press for building chest

flys won't put much size on if any, they're more for shaping. try cable press or smith machines to help take the load of the surrounding muscles. and don't over extend or over stretch.

Try floor press with dumbbells and barbells.

It will limit your range of motion a bit and may help you to still reap the benefits of heavy presses without the pain you are experiencing.

^^^ I like them but that would still put load on the surrounding muscles. he's trying to avoid stimulating his neck muscles, the best way is machines.
