Cutting advice for the naturally slim guy

Post cycle, I gained a little unwanted weight around my abdomen (where any weight I gain seems to go) so i'm keen on shedding it especially as I'd like to start my second cycle sometime next month.

In the past as a natural trainer, I always ate in a deficit, adjusting my macros to a low fat and moderate carb ratio, in addition to incorporating fasted am HIIT cardio. The trouble is I find I begin dropping weight dramatically as soon as I drop the calories even to maintenance level. I wondered if any former skinny guys had the same issue and could suggest some pointers for successful cutting.

    Thanks.

    Stats:

    Weight - 86kg
    Height - 178cm
    BF - 15%

    I'm like u.

I have been in a bulk for so long that it hard for me to even say carb cycling works well. But it does.

I will drop my cals down to maintenance and them carb cycle. Seems to work well for fat loss and I at least feel like I hold most the muscle that I have.

Instead of just dropping straight to maintenance, start by taking 100-200 calories out at a time until you're losing the desired amount of weight per week. Problem solved.

Also, once you drop a load of water and glycogen it will balance out and you won't have to worry about dropping weight too quick anyway.

Agreed on carb cycling - a great way to maintain performance in the gym, and feel better on the cut (more regularly have higher glycogen stores etc, don't appear flat).

As stated above, dropping your cals back at 100 or so at a whack is a better way of fine tuning then just crunching your numbers and implementing a 500 cal def.
Once you tweak your calories you can really utilize carb cycling which will allow you to use those carbs up on the days you really need them. I would allow yourself a few more weeks to prime properly before cycling as to get the most from it. I have always done well with an eight week prime. Good luck!

What is your current diet and training routine? Is it possible that all you may need to do is clean up your diet and implement a bit of cardio? Some changes do not need to be drastic.

To be honest, my training and diet has slipped some what since I finished my first cycle. I'm normally pretty militant when it comes to training and diet, but after finishing PCT, my mojo just seemed to vanish and it's probably taken up to this point to regain that passion for lifting again; it's bizarre.

At the moment my diet is:

    2,700-2,900 Kcal ED
    40/30/20 - Carbs/Protein/Fats

Training consists of compound and isolation moves, with moderate weights and high and low reps.

Have you had bloodwork completed? It's sounds like it may be a good idea.

I would just keep things the same as most likely you will drop the excess bf once you start the new cycle. Dropping weight is not the goal anyways, focus should be on bf% not weight. The mirror is more helpful than the scale IMO.

I'm waiting until next month to do bloods.
