Can’t find quality straps, no good brand seems to be making them. There are loads on amazon and I ordered a pair too - they all seem cheap lq products though, do not like. I like nice things.

Like when I added lifting gloves to myprotein order, binned that crap. Bought Under Armour gloves and they’re amazing and indestructible. Wish they made more accessories :/

    LOL! No straps no traps

I wonder if lifting straps feel angry because they get ridiculed, while wrist straps and lifting belts get all the glory? Tools are tools, use them to achieve your goals.... unless its the gallon milk jug of water, leave that in the car.

Those are the same concept as versa grip. If you think they look cheap just buy versa grips.

Arnold has never said anything of the sort, I'm sure. In his Bible he mentions that he's never used gloves because he loves to feel the metal with bare hands. He's not against lifting gloves, he just says they're not necessary.

I'm sorry, but this statement is just plain fucking stupid. Gloves prevent me from getting blisters plus I've got a germ phobia or whatever it's called - I feel better wearing gloves.

What kind of weightlifting straps do you use?

OP, if you feel like your progress is held back by your grip and you are not a competitive powerlifter*, use whatever you feel like you need. Gloves, straps, belts, whatever you want.

I personally don't lift with a belt anymore but will use straps when the deads / shrugs / chins / rows / etc start getting heavier (80% + of one rep max). I've used the inexpensive cotton straps to ones like this. I prefer the latter and don't really care about how they look (as long as they aren't hello kitty pink and hell, I might even use those if they worked and I was in a bind).

Bottom line: do what works for you. This subject usually gets some good natured ribbing but it's all in fun.

    * straps USED to be forbidden in PL meets for the deadlift, but I see that strongman allows them, so maybe they are approved in meets now.
They’re still not allowed in any official PL feds. You’ll see them used to shit like the Animal Cage at the Arnold, and as you mentioned, Strongman. However, the SM thing has gotten weird too, because Figure-8 straps are almost universally banned, and some SM comps don’t allow any straps. The rules vary by event and competition.

IMO, the only straps worth a shit are 2” Spud straps. They’re made of tow strap material, so absurdly durable. I was sold on them after seeing Jamie Lewis switch to them for his 700+ lbs. shrugs, after he got tired of punching himself in the mouth when weaker straps would break.
