Am I Being A Prick????
Need opinions... My fiancee's twin sisters boyfriend is coming into town for 9 days during the holidays, and they want to stay at our house.. I never met the guy, plus even if he was cool, I just don't feel like entertaining someone for so long. I like my privacy, and to be honest with you, I don't trust someone in my house when I am gone. I told them they are more than welcome to stay for 2 nights, and thought that would be nice enough, but other people are telling me just to suck it up and let him stay, cause it would be the right thing to do. What would you guys do???

well if i felt the way you do... i would do what your doing
ive had my house robbed by ppl i thought were friends. so i dont trust too many ppl alone either.
but now i have nothing to steal. so if it was me. id say screw it... come on over
on another note... did you say twin sister?? hmm, oh the possibilities

While I think it was rude of them to impose in such a way, it may seem even more rude to turn them down. Family, after all. Make sure you have an excuse ready next year.

then say sorry. cant do it. a pipe burst or something.

dude... it's a big insult if you say no. You better get used to sharing your time with them ...if they are family.

I forgot to mention my guest bathroom and shower are being redone as we speak and will not be ready when they come!!!!! There is a another bathroom, but no shower, so that means he has to use my shower for 9 days.. SORRY, but I think I'm just going to be a prick. Did I mention he was a male nurse!!!!! I always find it funny, and think of the movie Meets The parents, with Ben Stiller.. No but really apparently male nurses make some cash, so why not get a nice hotel for 7 days and enjoy some privacy with your girl??

if it was me i'd do it...just gotta intimidate the guy when he shows up so that he knows you won't deal with any bullshit.

just let em' stay, it's only 9 days
btw run the water for awhile before getting in the shower
if he needs to crank one out it will probably be in the shower, it's the polite guest like thing to do...I mean if you're going to spank at someone's house at least do it where there is a floor drain. (I've done a fair amount of couch surfing in my day)

Think about the repercussions your going to have to face from your fiancee if you decide to "politely decline." I would think this through. A gesture like this goes a long way.

I did exactly that once and I lived to regret it. The guy was a total douche, and I ended up kicking both of them out.

I have to admit i would say no, not for that long, it's your house and the place where you need to feel comfortable. Let it happen once and it will happen again, politly say no and you probally won't get asked again. ITS YOUR HOME period

On a side note...There are a lot of male nurses, especially in emergency medicine. I have several friends who are nurses, and make $90,000 a year working 4 days a week. Just pointing out what a stupid stereotype that is...
Moving on...I think if this person has the potential to be a family member you should give it a try once. You can always decide to be a dick later on. But I mean, you do want your fiances fam to say good things about you, and dont want her twin sis to trash you in the future...

9 days is far too long IMO. Tell them they're welcome to come for 3 days. And make up some excuse as to why they can't stay the whole 9.
-

Bro its YOUR house...plus already going in..you have reservations about the whole thing so if you let them stay as long as they want...you're gonna get resentfull and you might even percieve some shit they may do as being disrespectful and then you'll kick them out in which case it may cause problems with you and your lady. I'm speaking from personal experience..years ago I let my wife's friends stay with us against my will and long story short they eventually went to a hotel.

Na, tell them to get a room. I can't see why someone would even want to stay at someone's house that long. I guess I fall under the prick heading also.

Id say let them stay 3 days max. 9 days is a long time to entertain people all day, especially while he's eatting ur food and drinking everything. Maybe they won't even clean up after themselves and bang the shit out of the walls at night too.

i agree with your original answer. 2 days, end of story, its your house, i enjoy my privacy. trust no one

He's not family - he's a bf. And nine days is way too long. Ever here the saying guests are like fish - they stink after three days?
Whatever misgivings are had between you for saying "NO" is nothing compared to the shit that can fall out when he is staying there for nine days and on day six you go ape shit on him.
A mother-in-law is one thing. Your fiancee needs to respect your limits. Family? you're not even married to her! It's the bf of a sister of your gf !
Trouble pal, I smell deep dirty trouble a brewin'. Now I shut up.... :-)
