Kids having surgery

Ok chaps here it is I'm 41 led a somewhat coloured life shall we say 1st man in England with a 10yr ban for being a top flight hooligan,prison,numerous fights etc (I'm a different guy now) but not a lot scares me but my son is 7 and is having a "routine procedure" this morning to correct his hearing,and it's scaring me to death.....
I feel helpless and what if something goes wrong man I wish it was me and not him
Is it just me or does everyone get these feelings of being helpless????

I don't have kids but I think that's normal for parents. Of course you don't want him to have to go through anything like that. I'm sure everything will go smoothly. I wish the best

Unless you're the surgeon performing the surgery, everyone in your shoes will feel helpless. Its normal. It tells you how much you love your kid. If you dont feel this way, then something is wrong.

But if the doctors are confident, and if its really a simple procedure, then you really have nothing to worry about. Cheer up! Go grab a beer before you sit in the waiting room

Glad your son is out and ok. You have been a dad longer than me(20 month old). I can't imagine surgery for a child. Happy it went well.

It's pretty brutal. My middle child had a condition called pyloric stenosis(over development of the sphincter entering the stomach) so he couldn't eat and would throw up all the time. Had to have his stomach cut open and operate on that muscle. Me and my wife were a wreck for like a week. I sympathize with ya milky. Glad everything is g2g!

shit. when my daughter was born, she had a partially open tear duct, which meant mild sedation and a very mild procedure to open it all the way up. I was scared. It was my baby. You're in good company mate!

glad all is well. my boy is 7 and daughter is 5. i still wake in the middle of the night and check on them. they are both very sound sleeper and my biggest fear everytime i see them they are not breathing. my boy (Maximus) yells at my everytime i wake him. and yes those fears i think are normal no matter how old you kids get that feeling of protector will never leave

My daughter turned 18 recently and there isn't a single minute of the day that I don't worry! It's the burden of being blessed with parenthood lol. Glad all worked out Milky, glad someone in the family isn't afraid of needles

Told one kid once "don't do anything that might cause you to end up on the back of a milk carton", since they don't do that anymore he just looked stupidly at me!

Haha I have a sister that's about ur daughters age and I'm 8.5 years older then her. She brought a guy home once and I had all my guns out (ar15, ak47, several shotguns(hunting and home invasion), .308 tactical sniper rifle, .357 mag, couple glocks(.45& 9mm)). They were walking out the door and I just told him "u can't run and u can't hide" . Poor boy turned white as a ghost and damn near fell trying to get out the door lol
