    Roommate Pros and Cons

I'm thinking about getting a roommate, I haven't really considered it before but a friend that I knew from school suggested it and since I don't really work I guess it could be beneficial financially.

I've own my home and have only had one roommate before, until she moved her boyfriend in and then they never paid any rent for 8 months, it practically killed our friendship and I don't want to get into any kind of mess again with someone. I like my space and I've lived alone since I was 18 but I'm thinking this might help with me feeling lonely at times.

What do you guys think? And should I come up with some sort of contract?

my one apartment even had rules IN THE CONTRACT about having ppl sleep over.
and leaving without locking up the place. cuz it was a big house made into 3 apartments. so we all shared a common hallway. lol

and it was a nice ass apartment in the middle of a nice city.

at my apartment at school i have 3 roommates, but we get our own bedroom. it definitely has its ups and downs. the one closest to me is VERY loud at all hours, usually playing shitty music or smoking with his friends. but when we have parties its cool, and we chill together sometimes. i think living on my own would be pretty boring in comparison.

have to do a contract for several reasons. you do not waant to be responsible for everything they bring into the home. they have to bare the responsibility of what if any illegal things they bring into home or there area...
it is for ur roomates benefit as well...always error on the side of caution....

It depends on who you get. 9/10 times it doesn't work out or is hard. If you get someone like minded you will be alright.

I lived with my best friend for three years and by the end of that time we were ready to kill each other. It definitely put a strain on the friendship. Wouldn't do it again.

I lived with my brother and we got along great, until his girlfriend moved in and then it all went to shit again.

So definitely be careful who you choose, outline the rules and write up a contract.

It almost always ends in disaster. The roommate I live with now is the only person I can tolerate living with out of everyone, including my friends and (ex)girlfriends. I've lived with quite a few different people over the years, and sometimes by myself. I like having a roommate most of the time. I get pretty lonely all by myself. We have rules about not having people over without checking with the other person and such, and we split housework and bills evenly. No loud music the other doesn't like etc. What it really boils down to is just respect for the other person.

I don't do the roommate thing because I am kinda anal about some things (DSM insert joke here).
Plus at my age its a little lame to bring a lady back to your house and introduce her to your buddy's like your still in college. I have lived by myself for 4 years and love it.

They say you don't know someone till you live with them. A cliche it may be, but TRUST ME its true. TBH I would probably never live with a friend again, ive had a better time of it living with people I didn't previously know.

If you decide to get a roommate, it is of PARAMOUNT importance to write up a contract and have your roommate willfully accept and sign. That way, if the sh1t hits the fan, you've got an insurance policy. In this day and age, people WILL screw you over, so you need to cover your ass every way possible.

Hell yes do it why wouldn't you?

I know some people who claim to like living alone but I think deep down they are anti social wannabe loners at heart.
Chances are you make a new friend and laugh a lot more, I hate living alone, f that.
I also have noticed in life the problem with people who like to live alone is not that they can't find someone good to live with but that noone has ever been able to stand living with them.

If you're not one of those people Id def recommend it.

I gave up peeing in the shower because I got tired of cleaning it. Now my preference is peeing all over the rim of the toilette bowl.

Well I guess a contract is a good idea, and I think I get too lonely by myself and being single. It would be someone to laugh with, go out with and all of that, and I wouldn't get depressed from being alone.

The only thing i hate about having a roomie is that it seems like i'm always cleaning up after them. And they wouldn't do yard work so i quit having roomies about 6 years ago. The last one was a very good friend and it almost killed us. We went about 8 months without talking after i kicked his ass out.
As for the contract, definetely. And make sure you put the damn dishes in it. hahaha..
    Good luck Kat.

Just remember it starts out with you guys doing a bunch of things together but after time you always get sick of them, or they get a boyfriend or what every..just a thought..

I"m still debating, she has a dog and I already have 2 large dogs, I don't want to feel like I live at the local pound. I use my spare bedroom as a dressing room/closet right now and I won't really have anywhere to put my clothes because all of the other closets and dressers are full. She's a good person and I know she wouldn't stiff me any money, she has a good job and I've known her for a very long time.

Conflict, what if I meet a guy and want privacy, I feel like a teenager having to go to my room...And my jacuzzi room...hell I don't know and I think she is still thinking about it as well. The extra cash would be nice but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
