    Test vial problem

    Hi guys

I went to pin on Friday and noticed that in the syringe there was a small black thing. I heard a hard time getting the bubbles out so I had to fill the syringe and drain a few times.

Because I noticed the black object (which I think is a piece of the black rubber stopper on top of the vial) you know the thing you stick the needle through to draw... I binned the syringe, vial of test, and needles. Then I pinned with a new vial of test with no problems.

Do you guys often get pieces of rubber from the vial in with the oil? Luckily, the bottle was nearly emptied anyway so I didn't loose out on too much.

Do you recommend having an extra vial spare incase of such things happening again?

    Thanks guys

Depending on the size needle you use to draw your hormone will sometimes cause small pieces of the rubber stopper to loosen and float into the vial. It happens.

^^^Indeed, 'black' gave it away...there would be no other black foreign object in the vial.

    Thanks guys

I draw with an 18 gauge. Should I use 21's instead? I have them to hand.

When a piece of rubber goes in with the oil - should I throw the vial away yeah?

I would 18g are harpoons for god sake and big enough to allow foreign objects into the vial and beat up the rubber stopper pretty good after 8-10 piercings...

18 is way too big for a vial. I use a 21g if the oil is really thick but that's from an amp or a 23g is normally fine.

So when a rubber piece goes into the vial - should I throw the vial away?

Unless you want to risk injecting possibly unsterile gear and or rubber into your body, yes.

Its best not to draw up your oil with anything bigger than a 21g.

That's interesting cause my medical professional says it's standard practice in medicine to use an 18g?

    I'll use a 21 from now on

What use do 18g needles actually have then bro?

Couldn't he still use it if he filters it with a syringe filter?

I would not consider cycling a "Standard Practice" and if your cycling shorter acting esters where ED/EOD injections are rendered sticking yourself with an 18G needle would get old real fast.

I use 18ga to draw my gear then I switch to 26ga to pin the gear.

In my place they use 18g for 1st time donors, and 16g for the normal donors. The bigger the needle bore the less it damages RBCs.

Anything lower than 21g is not advisable for IM injections.
