too much protein bad?
I've read a lot of dif. things that suggest dif. percentage of protein in ones diet. I usually go by 40% protein. However, I read that 30% may be more efficient because excess protein doesn't really even get used? Any thoughts opinions?

I'm sure its different depending on one's goals (bulking, cutting) and what kind of super-supplements someone is taking at one time. These variables aside, it will differ from person to person anyway. Experience (aka trial and error) is the best teacher.

from my understanding, your body will simply get rid of what it doesn't need/use...so IMO, take in more than you think you'll need, just in case

A and F that is a little bit twisted around, it's not the macronutirents that get stored as fat, but excess calories not utilized that are stored as fat, you can eat all carbs in one day, but as long as your dietary intake is the same as your DEE then you won't gain a lb., but I would not reccomend eating only carbs or only anything for that matter.

Bodybuilders reduce the amount of protein in their diets a few weeks before a show... if the extra all got pissed out then there would be no reason for this

basically the protein becomes deaminated or broken down from amino's and reconfigured ( if you will ) into fatty acids and blamo FATNESS at its FINEST!

Ok, hypothetically speaking... if I take in 4000 calories in protein, none gets stored as fat?

Since the Atkin craze, alot of faddy people, especially in LA, have been complaining of 'back pains'.
Explanation is that protein is being turn to a carb store by the kidneys. This conversion put alot of strain on them and can eventually cause serious damage. The damage of eating a high protein diet can be limited by eating carbs as well.
