Eating yams uncooked?
Is eating yams without any cooking okay (i.e. skinning them and eating like an apple)?
Something intuitively tells me that it wouldn't be as bioavailable or not good as far as digestion.... but it would be such a easy, quality carb source when in class.
(I ask cause after reading that ground up oats are digestible without cooking, who knows?)
Thanks
SB

I couldn't even imagine eating them that way, why not bake them and throw them in a container? They are awesome baked....

Haha... I knew most of you would wonder why in the world.... eating that RAW????
I honestly think they taste pretty good raw, a lot easier to eat one during class. Just always have a lot going on and it doesn't seem like there are many complex carbs that need no cooking.
When I remember ahead I certainly love to cook them, but needless to say, I don't always remember ahead. And when I do forget I HATE to fall back on meal replacement shakes.... oats in the coffee grinder and whey in a shake are decent, but just aren't that filling for a pro/carb meal.
Be A LOT easier to grab a yam on the way out the door.
