To cheat or not to cheat?
Here i am back on track in my new cutting quest to 185lbs...I started it 3 weeks ago came down with some stomach virus the first week (see link below) and 2 weeks later my mother died (Thanksgiving Day) so i had to fly out of state and was gone a week so of course diet was not such a priority.
Here i am back now and i am probably (Monday weighed in at 207lbs, but figure this is all the bloat etc) around 200-205lbs right now (will check tommorow) and feeling good as i finally feel normal again.
I have always had a cheat meal/day since changing my lifestyle a year and a half ago. I am beggining to wonder if i can afford a cheat meal trying to get as low as 185lbs? I feel good right now but damn does my body want that cheat meal...my body is just begging for a "Chipotle" burrito but my mind is asking me this question....to cheat or not to cheat?
Help...whats a man to do?

Eat a can or 2 of tuna, and a hand full of almonds..
then ask yourself the same question.
When your full, you wont have the craving any longer

You NEED the cheat meal, trust me. Not taking a day to release is going to put your body closer to homeostasis, and that will only slow your progress. Chipotle away! I'd choose Salsarita's though over Chipotle

I am not hungry now and i do not have cravings during the day, its the end of the week and cheat day that i am talking about..like i said i have always had that day and my body knows that day is coming soon (Sunday) and is already telling me it wants a Chipotle burrito.

I made my day Tuesday. Chipotle, thats a great idea. I remember 2 summers ago when I had chipotle 11 days in a row, followed by 6 cookies from Subway. Man..no wonder I was a fattie.

My mind is used to a cheat DAY. I usually eat a bad breakfast on Saturday b/c I work at a resturant that serves breakfast. It usually takes me a while to eat it because I am running around waiting on people. Then, by the time I get off I am not hungry anymore. Then for dinner I was bad again. Mentally I want to get to the point where I only have one cheat meal a week, Sat. night. I just started my diet 2 weeks again and its really clean durning the week. I don't mean to steal this thread, but I am constantly thinking about this. What do ya'll think? Any suggestions?
By the way, I have to cheat a least once a week for me to eat clean the rest of the week or I would go crazy, and I usualy start thinking about what I am going to eat Thursday, never befpre then because I will diffently throw myself off with my diet.

Cheat or don't. Some do, some don't. I went 3 months without cheating and felt no urge to cheat. I have been eating healthy for so long it becomes second nature. I have also done a cheat meal once a week, and see no difference between cheating and not. I like a refeed of carbs, or just have some smothies, and lots of fruits on my cheat day. To each his own..

I have found an entire cheat day to be counter productive. I have tried to have just the cheat meal...but it usually ends up being a few hours because my stomach is so small now from eating little bits at a time...that the most i could eat in one sitting is a slice of pizza. So I guess you could say I have 2-3 cheat mini meals a week. This may work for you flamethrower. It will keep your metabo high also because you aren't gorging yourself in one sitting. No fat puppy syndrome!
I also agree w/kman on the carb up theory. I find this to keep my cravings at bay while not ingesting tons of greasy foods. I usually eat fruit or lucky charms on those days...keeps my sweet tooth happy.
Mmmm lucky charms...dammit!

IMHO, if you can go without cheating then do it.. homeostasis yeahhhh.. whatever... most of us cheat for sanity. weeks of lean protein (tuna, tuna , tuna) just messes with your head. nothing wrong with a cheat meal, but if you're gonna do it, make it count... like they say mcdoald's wendy's, gorditas (taco bell), cheat the hell out of it.

If you were following some kind of carb cycle, etc.... I would say no depending which type.... but as you are following the cutting sticky basically.
Cheat meal is REQUIRED. Enjoy your meal, move on... continue progressing.
-

i wouldn't say required, everyone's diet is different, if you feel you need it, then take it. but if you're making gains, and not having those fast food cravings etc., then don't cheat. i'm a FIRM believer that the cheat meal is not necessary for personal gains. however, i take one a week because ..... who can't resist the gorditas?????

what if you just go out and get drunk once a week, would that count as a cheat meal?
