Dorian Yates opinion on bulking up...

I recently read Dorian Yates say that a 200 pound person will gain just as much muscle eating 3100 calories as he would eating 4000 calories...the additional 900 calories will only turn into fat...so he says you only need to eat 300 more calories than what it takes to maintain your bodyweight. any opinions on this? im not bulking right now im actually cutting but was just curious.

no, Nark isnt bashing you he's just saying FLEX is full of shit, what you read cannot always be taken to heart, it all depens on how each persons body reacts to calories and foods, we all know someone that can eat whatever they whant and not gain weight and we all know someone that has to whatch evreything they do eat

Dorians off season diet was apparantly about 4000cals to maintain a bodyweight of 300 pounds he also done cardio in the off season as he believed it was beneficial for growth.

I do agree with not allowing yourself to get fat while bulking, although calorie intake will vary from person to person.

i am a firm believer that cardio is beneficial for growth...being in good condition means a lower heart rate which means more blood flow to muscles during intense workouts.

    Hey brother,

Its really all about knowing your body ... Just start mixing it up .. different foods different calories and figure what your body does... Some people will have a very fast metab !!! and eat everything not bolted down and not gain much of anything ... with the many people i have trained I have had to learn over months sometimes what will make someone lose weight or gain weight ...

Good luck with everything pal ...
