    post workout shake

my question is after i lift and before i do cardio i have my 40grams of protein with a tbsp of wheat grass and 80grams of dextrose. Is that ok even though i do cardio for lets say an hr or should i just have my protein after the cardio?

Are you cutting, bulking, or maintaining? And typically your body needs protein and carbs asap after a workout so you'll recover quicker and more efficiently.

Yeah, PWO after cardio. Just make sure your pre-workout nutrition is in-check and do BCAAs intra/cardio.

BCAA's after your workout, and before cardio. PWO nutrition after cardio.

Sorry, I misread your original post. I'd drop the dextrose personally.

I´d like to know about Dextrose as well.
25 years of working out I´ve never done weight gainer...ie Dextrose or other sugar/carb.
However after some reading, I recently just added 80g Dextrose to my Post Workout shake. Before only protein.
I really don´t see/feel the advantage. All that happens is I have a major sugar crash 1 hr later and nap 1/2 hr on the couch.

    Sorry chi...on subject, right? :-))

^ ^ this is one good reason why. I just don't see the benefit of spiking insulin like that... I think more stable blood levels is better over the long term. If you want fast acting carbs PWO, look at waxy maize or vitargo. Personally, I stick with complex carbs - oats are my choice.

After cardio I have ALWAYS taken exactly the same post workout shake as after a weights session. The carb content of that shake is powdered oats.

The only difference is that after weights I down my shake within 15 mins. After cardio I wait 30 mins. I then eat a real meal within an hour of that shake.

Tried dextrose a couple of times. Made me sweat alot and induced an overriding feeling of nausea.
