    high blood pressure

I have been on trt for almost a year now test cyp 150mg a week, hcg 300iu 3x a week, and adex .5 mg 3x aweek. lately I have been having high blood pressure. 150/115 and 128/92 are some typical readings I have been getting lately. I also work outside alot of hours and with this heat wave it has been rough. Could trt be the cause of my blood pressure? Also my HDL blood leval was at 16 should be over 40, any suggestions on getting that up. Thanks...

I haven't seen any change in blood pressure since starting TRT. I did notice my pressure went up when I gained 20 lbs prior to starting TRT.

Are your readings from a properly sized cuff or one of those machines at a pharmacy? My reading are def not accurate from the automatic ones.

I might be a contributing factor but it is more likely your diet/health. I am on almost identical dosages of all 3 compounds and I am around 110/70. What is you BF and diet like?

regardless of cause....hbp should be monitored and treated if necessary....its not like you would discontinue trt because of hbp i wouldnt think

u didnt mention your bp before trt so we are to assume all was good prior to...i think yes trt CAN/WILL make your bp change but like i said regardless check it and see a doc if u see those type numbers and get meds

BF is around 16% and my diet is not that great. I am working out about 3 days a week.

Lower the HCG dose a bit unless you're trying to conceive (it aromatises heavily). 600-700 IUs should be plenty to maintain testicular size and function (well, as far as just HCG without HMG goes)
Clean up your diet and do more cardio. This will serve the double purpose of improving your lipids and lowering your BP. Also, lower your salt intake and/or increase your potassium levels by eating lots of bananas. Your sodium and potassium ratio must be correctly balanced to avoid water retention.

Regarding your comment about your HDL, remember the following excerpt from Crisler:

HDL does frequently drop a bit, is believed due to increased REVERSE cholesterol transport. Androgens also elevate hepatic lipase, and this may have an effect. The important thing to keep in mind is that TRT inhibits foam cell formation. For these reasons I provide my TRT patients a free 10-12 point bump in HDL evaluation.

Just trying to be positive....good luck man.

I was in the same boat & would agree OP needs to get his BP under control. My question would be are you a big guy? My doc feels that TRT def does have an affect on BP in that if you achieve greater muscle mass (from TRT & Gym) the cardiovascular system does become compromised. There's just no getting around it. Lowering BF %, reducing sodium in-take & cardio are a must, but don't be adverse to taking BP meds to get the situation under control in the beginning. Any reading over optimal, long-term, can do damage. A lot of it is genetics too, especially the HDL. I have high blood pressure like the OP, but have great HDL...

Cut the salt from your diet and drink a diuretic tea every 3-4 days to lose the excess body water. Should drop your BP by 1-2 points.
