    static training...

    hi, im new.. lol.. anyways, I've been exposed to this new form of training.. its called static training.. anyone heard of it?.. I heard this is used for the world strongest man comp.. my military press has gone up from 180 to 265 (doing static reps).. tbar pull from 180 to 250 etc. yea, ive been gettin extreme gains, but i know how to do them only on shoulders and back.. wondering if there are any guidlines, other muscle group workouts..etc

    Post these in the workout forum. Check out Static Contraction Training (book) by John Little and he will teach you everything you need to know. Welcome and good luck!

    mentzer's theory behind static training is that since you can handle more weight for a static hold (and even more for a negative) than you can with a positive you are limiting yourself by only exhausting those muscle fibers that are firing during contractive work.

    at any rate you wanna use a weigth higher than you 1 rep max (you'll have to experiement) and hold it at a full contraction as long as possible.
