Jeez, don't get me started. Flame me if you want, but profiling is just common-sense police work. I have no patience for people who insist on being protected from every possible danger but want to want to handcuff the folks whose job it is to provide that protection.

First, I think that profiling is a necessary method for both law enforcement and national defense.
Second, I think the initial post is a ridiculous argument to make.

usually the ppl who cry profiling are doing something wrong, thats all minorities, a white guy in harlem at 2am is up to something. the same as a 17year old crackdealer in a cadilac. or a mexican sittin 100yards from texas/mexico line. its there bc statistically its a fact, not all apply, but usually they are right, then the crook uses it to be our system bc its set up to protect the POS and not help those who are robbed raped or murdered. i think profiling is a must, if im in a non-white ghetto and a cop sees me, plz stop me and redirect me, the same way if a guy goes into a store with a ski mask on his head, im dailin 911

I am ALL for profiling of every variety. When a serial killer is 'on the loose', they "profile" single white men aged 30-45, as they represent some 99% of all confirmed serial killers....but you don't see 30-45 year old white males protesting this act.

Profiling takes place on a variety of levels. Felons are profiled out of government jobs. It only becomes a touchy subject when race or ethnicity are involved.
Profiling American citizens on the basis of race or ethnicity is in the grey area. However, profiling foreign tourists, foreign students on Visa, on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality is a good idea. They arent American, they don't share our rights.

Profiling is part of the game... no problems with it. Cops get statistics in each month... they know whos doing what by %'s

I hope they "profile" until their faces turn blue.......if profiling saves 1 life then it is worth it 10000%

profiling happens no matter what we think.
screw it. it works. thats all that really matters.
like decadbal said- if i'm cruising around a project in Newark at 2 a.m.... I am either up to no good or completely retarded and lost. so either way a cop had **** well better come over and strike up a conversation.

profiling is fine but if they are profiling i just wish they would admit it cause saying they aren't just makes them look like idiots. like at the airport the people they search is "random" yeah right. when i have a tan i have been told repeatedly that i look palestinian and wouldn't you know they stop me at the airport 3-4 times, when i have a layover thats 6-8 times total! i am of german decent and just tan really dark and if i look guilty then thats fine, but hey just admit what is really going on.

even though i wasnt born here i am all for it. Just makes my life hell a lot easier. Like there was an accident about 6 or so years ago when a black female pushed a man infront of the incoming subway nothing happend to her nobody said anything. But what would have happend if a white male pushed her under the train, i dont even wanna know

profiling is america's greatest past time...next to baseball
there is nothing wrong with profiling imo...if they aren't doing anything wrong, then they're sent on their way..of course i'm biased obviously, because i haven't been there like blacks and all the others who get profiled

We need profiling if this nation is to stay on top. By the way, anyone remember the Muslim who was a US soldier and set off the grenade or whatever, injuring and killing US soldiers, back last year sometime I think? Was he court martialed and hanged?? The liberal news media hasn't said a **** word about what happened with that.

Profiling makes sense, and can be used as a great tool to stop crime IF it is used properly IMO.

They don't profile at the airport by race. Its cute that you think that they are profiling you because of your tan, but it simply isnt true.

Car load of black kids riding around in my neighbor hood and yoy can bet your ass they are up to something.
Me and a bunch of white friends riding around the courts you can bet your ass we are looking for something.

There's plenty of new restaurants, theaters, stores and bars. Starbucks, HMV Records, 2 large stadium seating movie theaters, a Disney store, H&M Department store, M.A.C. cosmetic store, Foot Locker, a new shopping mall.... The list goes on. So most likely the car full of white people you see in Harlem are either shopping, headed home or on their way to a bar.Last edited by Carlos_E; 05-27-2004 at 08:11 AM.

Its just like those white people. As soon as they started cleaning it up and making it a nice place the white people come out like cock roaches and take over.

How nice of you to refer to a group of people as cock roaches. Since you're white and referring to whites, I guess it's OK for you to do so. Unless you're expressing self hatred.

I think we're getting off topic here but I love Harlem. I have an office in Manhattan and whenever I go there for an extended stay we always spend a night or two in Harlem. I've never felt uncomfortable and if I was any more white, I'd be clear. I agree with Carlos that it has a nice racial mix. That makes for some great restaurants and some cool hangout spots.
