I wont call you a liar but since you grew up the way you did remember the only way that you could have gotten where you are is by help along the way from these liberal programs we're talking about. Even if you're self-made, you should have a desire to make life easier on famillies going through waht yours did when you had hard times growing up.

OK. As I said. I wasn't 100% regarding this point. I do know however, that in my state, it IS mandatory for full-time employees to be offered healthcare bennefits.
It may be state-by-state regulated though.

I absolutely agree!!!!! I do have the desire to "make life easier on families going through what I did". However, I don't believe that is governments place in our lives. I try my best to help where I can. I give tithing to my church (Catholic), I volenteer at my local homeless shelter and at one point in time I worked at a non-profit drug rehab as a counsler................ Yes, I did bennefit some some of those programs. Public school for example. As horrid as it was; I did learn the basics that I needed to put me where I am today.

So why not ask the gov to help out with healthcare, education, welfare, medicine and higher taxes on the rich. Giving money to your church is not charity, its contributing to an organization that you are part of, which coincidentaly happens to be the richest organization in the world, and while were on it, (though I do not want to get into a religion conversation) the fact that your catholic probably has a lot to do with why you are republican, its too bad your political veiws are being clouded by your religious values.

I was wondering the same exact thing.

As far as Catholisism being the richest entity on the planet it is also one of the last 2 places they still speak latin, the other is Hell. Also there priests molest kids. So I don't really think they should be denoted for their Christianity.

I came from that backround. I still live in a high crime drug infested area. Not because I don't make money, but because I ****ed up my credit. Anyway, if you really came from that backround you would know that there are lots of barriers that aren't easily overcome and a lot of red tape around them. All the neighborhood programs that disappear when Federal Funding is in the hands on Republicans. So I think you are full of **** saying you "overcame" the obsticles of being poor.

Why is it that liberals are so dependant on government? They want government to do everything for them. Medicine, education, healthcare, welfare, socialized housing projects...........WTF?!!!! Get off your a$$ and do it yourself! What has BUSH done for this country? What have YOU done for this country?
Lets see how many republicans still feel this way if the bush administration passes a "draft" bill that would require 1 year of service from 18-25 yr olds, after the election is over of course, all the legislation has already been written for the bill, its just waiting until after the election to be put out there.

BTW- I think Bush has done more for haliburton and the carlyle group than america.

i think there should be a draft. in many other countrys when you turn 18 you have to enter the militaty. i think it teacher discipline and gives you selfrespect and confidence. i didnt serve in the military because i am in college, but if there was a draft tomorrow i would gladly go if i was called upon. also if we had a vietnam i would volunteer.

Well yeah, but I wouldn't agree with forcing people to go to war. I would go over and fight in Afghanastan in a second because Ifeel the war on terror is justified. However they would have to court martial me if they tried to send me to Iraq.

i see what you are saying totally, but when you are in the military you cant question orders, if you question orders that is when people die. but i completely respect your opinion.

I see. You feel that it is wrong to group all MUSLIMS together; saying they are all murderous, terroristic pigs. However, you are willing to group all CATHOLICS together because some priests within the vast organization molested children. In no way am I defending what those priests did, quite the contrary. It is my belief there is a special place in Hell for those priests.

"I would know". And you call me closed minded? You don't know me from Jack! You assume because I don't have the same "help me, I'm oppressed" attitude that you have been rank of this entire conversation, that I didn't live the life I say I did?
How can you honestly consider yourself, in any capacity, open minded?
If you truely believe that there is so much red tape surrounding the oppressed and poor in this nation, give me examples. Real life examples. I can give you a few from my background; I got over them. I payed my debt, cleaned my life up. Don't lecture me about oppression.
    1) When I was 16 I was convicted of burglery, aggrevated assault and tresspassing. I was sentenced to 2100 hours of restitution (for repayment of the burgleries), 1 month of house arrest, and an additional 60 days of probation; contingent upon my behavior during the following 3 months.
    2) When I was 17 (and still on probation), my probation officer, along with my mother, did a search of my room. They found a QP of marijuana and a gram of meth. Following my trial, I was sentenced 6 months in the Decker Lake Juvinille detention center located in Salt Lake City, UT. In addition to the time I was given at DL, I was also given 6 months of house arrest (which was later reduced to 3 months of house arrest and 3 months of probation for good behavior).
Don't tell me my life. I'll tell it to you. Stop being so condensending, it makes you sound ignorant.

Hey Spartan. Can you please give a few examples of what Bush has done for Haliburton and Carlyle while he has been in office? In all honesty, I understand his ties to both companies, but I am ignorant to what exactly he has done for them?

The war in Iraq has made so much money for these companies, they have all the contracts craeted by the war in iraq. Go to their website and look at what positions they have open in Iraq and you'll realize that they are making billions off this war.
