Nah, that ain't good either, .
I am just joking, I didn't mean I laugh at the sport. I've many friends at the gym who are nothing BUT powerlifters, and I have a ton of respect for what they do. They bench RAW however for what they call "true pride" or "real weight", and they also do meets w/shirts and all that. I could never lift that amount with 3 of those shirts on, , so yes that does take talent/power/etc.
My point was that there is just too much room for making the lifts not really a "lift" anymore. The distance the bar travels is NOT one that is benefitial for muscular shape/work/etc., then again that is not the goal. Then you have the shirts that all help to varying degrees, the unusual postures that are taken, etc. I respect what they do, yes, but to me it's just not my gig.

That guy is a fat slob. I have no respect for him because that lift is BS. I do have respect for Scott Mendelson though. I have seen him with my own eyes, in California, bench 700lbs RAW for TWO. He is alo in very good shape. He has visible abs.

Mendelson looks like a beast. I bet if he or goggins decided to cut upp and focus on bodybuilding for a while they could become quite sucsessfull.
on the other hand I would like to se coleman focus on powerlifting after his bb career that could be interesting to

Huge lift. Even despite his physical condition, use of a shirt, and proposed inability to fare well in a fight.

Powerlifting would appeal more to the masses without bench shirts and jokers arching their backs. These are some of the reasons why bodybuilders laugh at this sport..They simply do not respect it due to there now being more technique to it than strength alone like years ago. For these reasons I just consider myself a weight lifter.

Powerlifters have one goal. Lift more weight. Not have visible abs,be vascular or have a gorgeous wife who loves abs or have abs
I admire people for their goals and how they achieve them. Regardless if your dropping weight to feel better, winter bulk, or if you have strength goals you want to achieve. Goals are goals anytime someone achieves them it is impressive if they are high enough.
As for gene rychek I believe he weighed in at 385.(could be wrong) What I notice more about anything is that his legs look tiny for a guy that big. Not the fact his stomach is bulging out miles and miles. I guess I could sit and critique his body all day long because I can't touch his strength, regardless if I have a 100 ply shirt on and have 2 inch(long) arms.Last edited by goodtobeapimp; 07-19-2004 at 12:44 AM.

But can he wipe his own a$$? I sure doesn't look like it. But jesus that's a lot of weight. Instead of plates they could have used a VW Beatle or a Yugo.

Power lifting is highly specialized and requires excess for success. I'm going to shoot for moderation and if I ever need a human car jack I know who to call.
