Thank PaRiS2005, I am glad that other members on this board feel the same way I do about this. I am far from paranoid...but you just cannot be too careful.

I think you should relay this to your counttry folk as well!
Iam not even going to reply becuase anything I say will be negative..Let's just say I disagree at yelling at a lady over her trying to give your kid candy..

I agree with you on this...I would not yell at anyone unless I felt it was very justified. I think a simple conversation should suffice for this kind of stuff...

I didn't mean yell, I meant harshly scold in a low voice.

And Kong- I got nothing against you bro, relax. I already said what I have to say.

That is what I thought you meant...there is a huge diff between being firm and assertive and being an a$$hole...I think everyone on here so far was meaning that they would be firm...

All I can do is laugh @ this.

Hey, here's an idea. You be your kind of parent, and I'll do what I gotta do to keep my child safe from this bullsh*t infested world.

I'd really hate to say "I told you so". Never give them that chance.

Who said I would yell at an old lady?

I'd "kill her with kindness" in saying, "no, sorry, I teach my kids to not take food/candy/etc. from people they do not know. I am sure you are a nice person, but you have to understand the method of neccessary pre-caution, and this is just one of my rules. Thank you for your offer, but no thank you".

I'd then go on to tell my child yet again that if this happens again, you say "no" and walk away, or tell me. Never ever eat anything from someone you do not know.

If you disagree w/that, fine. However, you are in no position to say we are "over-reacting".

I'm not one to scream in public, I'm just stressing the importance of the child and the lady understanding the seriousness of the situation. She was obviously an idiot, or she did have bad intentions. What adult doesn't know that it's inappropriate to give candy to a strange child in front of a 7-11 w/ out so much as making eye contact w/ the parent, let alone asking permission to give the child candy?

I think talking to someone politely like you just laid out is fine..I was speaking to alphaman who in his post said he would rip the lady a new A$$ hole..I took that as being very unpolite and yelling at the lady..Now I know my mother who works at the bank is always sending candy out for the kids in the cars when they go through with there parents..The kids love her and she loves kids..I just imagined my mother being screamed at for sending a kid a sucker or something and got a little pissed off..I mean no disrespect to anyone posting on this thread..Iam sure as soon as I have kids I'll be just as or more worried than the rest..So I should probably have a kid before throwing my input on this issue..

Little one? Do I know you? KINGKONG, huh? The bigger they are the harder they fall.

BTW, 5'10, 245 is hardly a KINGKONG! And definitely has no business calling me littleone.

Thanks for this response, it shows that you are mature and do have maturity, so really thank you. I am used to a response 180 degress in the opposite direction of this. You are right bro, when you have children and you really do realize wtf you can lose and what can happen from some bullsh*t that seems innocent, you'll be much more aware.

I equate it to a blind person having a very good sense of hearing, or a deaf person being able to see a ton of sh*t going on around them. You do develop heightened senses of security.

    Watch Dateline a couple times.

Lollypops from the bank and taking candy from some strange lady in front of 7-11 are quite different IMO. Why don't you call your mom up and ask her if she'd do what the lady in question did?

Yeah, all good, read the post above this one of mine. I wasn't flaming you in that post really, I was only drawing a comparison. You did post another thread that justified it all, so it's all good bro.

this is such a backwards thread hahahaha... i defly agree w/ everyone and not permitting a strange adult to give my child candy h3ll yeah!!! But, if (ex) i was w/ my moms and she (not thinkin logically) offers a cute kid some candy for whatever reason, and some meathead (yes, we are all meatheads on this site) started yelling at her (rudely), $hit, you better be ready for alot more from me!!! FOR THE RECORD: Nowhere did I say I would scream at the lady! When I said "ream" her, I meant harshly (in an inside voice) let her know this is inappropriate.......

    ream2 ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rm)
    tr.v. reamed, ream·ing, reams
To form, shape, taper, or enlarge (a hole or bore, for example) with or as if with a reamer

Maybe I used the wrong choide of words.... I can only derive the act of tearing someone a new assshole from this definition!
