Cigarettes. I started when I was about 15. Finally quit at 26. I smoked a little over a pack a day. I swear I must've tried to quit 500 times. It finally worked though. Its been about a year and a half since I had a drag and I never ever think about it. I am convinced its finally over. That was seriously the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I feel bad for people who can't quit. But if I can do it, anyone can.

I was a heroin addict for 11 years. I started on pain pills and got strung out and the docs cut me off so I hit the street. That was nearly twelve years ago. I have been to treatment 9 times over the years. If you want or need to chat let me know.

XANAX!!!! Xanax is the Fvcking Devil, and i recommend eveybody stay away from that POISON. I've pretty much used/sold every drug throughout dirfferent "phases" in my life, except for meth and H, and XANAX is the only thing that caused me real problems. It easily sent me back about 3-4 years in my life and they were the most important years as well 18-22. I thought i was "ballin" because i had stacks of money in my pocket, but i was literally ruining my life. Anyways 5 arrests later and i still didnt give a **** until i did something real stuid while being a shaded monkey, which would have resulted in some serious jail time so i just woke the **** up one day. I look back at that time and can easily fall into a depression with all the stupid things i did and people i hurt, but i just gotta look forward and be happy that i beat that shit cold turkey, and havnt put one of those evil pills in my mouth again and never will.
Prescription drugs are EVIL!

yea man Piankillers are a b!tch to get over. the aches the throwing up the hot flashes. any advice you could give me will work. im trying to wing myself off of them. i went from vic's to oxy's to methadone, then morphine, now back to vicodin. I normally took 15-20 10mg's pills a day now im down to 3. if dont take them, i get really sick and can barely walk. with it being a holiday monday for me at least with work this is the perfect weekend to quit. Plus i want to do roids and opiates are horrible on your live/kidneys. But thanks man, let me know if you have any good advice for quiting.

advice
Bro you really must go to a detox center for at least 8 days to let them administer some detox meds. Without any help you will be sick as sh#t and sooner or later you WILL cop some more pills. Let a detox doc bring you down slowly and your chances of getting and staying clean will greatly increase. At nearly 200mgs of hydrocodone (vicodin) you will be sick as hell without help. Seriously consider detox! Otherwise I promise you that you will continue the cycle of addiction. Let me know if you need a ny reccomendations etc. Good luck!

BTW dont ever consider using methadone!!! Its worse than even heroin. Being 100% synthetic it is much harder to quit. It deposits in your bones and fatty tissue more than the semi synthetics like dope, oxys, vicodin etc. Coming off of methadone I was in acute withdrawal for over three weeks!

I have the wilpower to quit, so i can do it, i just have to wing myself off slowly. I want to bad enough so like someone else said on the board cant remember, but if you REALLY want to quit you can. Ill be ok, just easier to talk about it anyway, and more support knowing others have done it also. Thanks for all the replies.

Quitting addiction alone is very, very tough. More people die from attempting to quit alcohol alone than any other drug.
I myself was addicted to diet pills. Soon thereafter, I developed an eating disorder. It was so hard to quit when everyone you know would tell you how good you looked. That was a real messed up time in my life (18yrs. old). If anyone else is struggling with something similar, contact me and we can chat.

I've had a good bit of experience in most the drugs described on this thread. I know more people addicted to hydrocodone (the potent ingredient in Vicodin) and oxy's than any other drug addiction (including coke and GHB).
Several people I know have had tremendous success quitting using a drug called suh-boxin. I have know idea how to spell so I typed out the pronunciation. You can get these from a detox doctor, and a black market is slowly forming for them. I've heard hard-core 3-5 year addicts call this drug a miracle worker. The best part is they have no problems getting off of this drug after they have gotten rid of the hydro addiction. Good luck mate.

I have been addicted to the Redlight District ever since I moved to the Netherlands to attend the University. I simply can't stop. So far, it has cost me a very nice girlfriend (I came clean, she left), and a couple thousand euro's. The euro's are definetaly worth it. Loosing a great girl, well time will tell.

I smoked crack a few times. When i did, all it did was for about 30 seconds give me an extremely hardcore rush then i wanted more. Smoke a 20 rock and want more and more. i quit that sh!t early before i even got started. Gratz on getting off though man i knew a few people whos lives are wasted from not getting off of it. like they say "CRACK KILLS"

I lost the my teen years to drugs. Can't remember a thing from probably 14-17 years old. I have an addictive personality so I'm very careful just what I get myself into. I've been off steroids for almost 3 yrs now, but before that I cycled without a break for years, I never took a break from gear for at least four years.

Im addicted to making my life better than it was yesterday, knowledge wise. I was addicted to guilt, anger and not forgetting and letting go of the past, it consumed me, which led to the darkside.
I had to learn to let go,let the past be gone and focus on the right now which is all we have.so much time wasted and spent reflecting on bad choices and decisions. Time is so much more important than people realize, most of us put off the things we really want to do until tomorrow and like everything else it gets pushed farther into the future until one day you wake up and realize its to late to do the things you really wanted to do because you don't have any time left.
LIVE for yourself and no other, but LIVE dont just go day to day.
You will find yourself in what makes YOU happy, but you have to find yourself first. Introspection, when you find out who you really are, you will realize something very profound, im not going to tell you what it is because it's an awakening..........

Cocaine ate up about 5 years of my life. Cost me my career, friends and more than one girlfriend (and pretty much every penny I had). Haven't touched it in over 6 years now and I never will again (primarily because I'm not sure I could quit again).
Curiously, cigarettes were harder to quit.
I've never met a former addict who said that all the pain of quiting wasn't worth it. Having control of your own life again is worth it.
Now I'm addicted to never becoming that same junkie punk-a$$ again.
