i know you're trying to be all hardcore and serve your country. but it isnt like the movies. if you join the army you can kiss your life goodbye. i dont mean you are going to die, i mean you will lose every bit of control you have over anything. they own you. they dont give a sh*t about you or your family.

as a gulf war vet and 7year soldier of the 101st abn division... I can say dont ****ing do it... go airforce and get a job you can use when you get out... wanna be stuck in law enforcement making 25k a year for the rest of your life????
well any combat arms MOS in the army or marines only leads to security, police work or other crap jobs...
you dont just ask to be a sniper, 1st you need to be part of either a ranger, or special forces, or even delta force unit to get sent to sniper school, the only exception is there are a few units that have a scout platoon and they get sniper training, usually not the real sniper school however.
being a sniper is a suck ass job, I went to a sniper training school in korea, again not the real DA sniper school at fort benning, but it was a pretty good one... and if you like wearing a soggy wet burlap covered suit for days at a time and sit in the rain, cold, snow or heat, with little sleep and little food looking for a target that probably will never show up... well if your into that then go for it... LOL
DUde seriously, combat units and ranger or SF units look cool on movies but until you have to carry 150lbs worth of gear for 25 miles you wont realize how much it sucks, 30 days out in the bush with no shower bad food and no gym or tanning... yeah that white skin, pores clogged with cammo grease paint and awfull smell will get you laid all right... CHICKs dig a guy in uniform, but they cant tell a ranger tab from a good conduct medal...
I wouldnt go back into the army for anything, I do webdesign from home, wake when I want, eat when i want, train when I want **** and sleep when I want... in the army you do what they say when they say to do it, I left a sergent E-5 almost got staff sergent and it was even worse than being a buck private, at least as a private you only got yelled at if u ****ed up... as an NCO you get yelled at when any of your 9 soldiers screws up...
hope I dispelled all the romance for ya there bro...
I am an army of one... yeah one ****ing underpaid jackass at the disposal of a even bigger jackass president!

I disagree with most of this. The Marine Corps infantry made me the person I am today. As for jobs... if you want a job, go to ITT tech. You want to be in the military, get a combat arms MOS. And no, i'm not stuck in law enforcement making $25k a year.

if you join the military, you arent pretty much guarranteed to go to iraq. it highly depends on your service and your job.
military sniper school is a very hard course and not many people graduate.
blackwater...what do you mean 'do they have authority'?
GL!

Well I have to agree with dave, the infantry did make me who I am today and after the shit I went through lifes little problems seem very petty...
But I cant in good consious suggest the military to anyone at the moment... if you really want to go to iraq and get blown up then go for it, but after seeing another guy in my squad take a peice of shrapnel in the neck and bleed out right in front of me... well its an image you wont forget anytime soon...
after 7 years in the infantry did I also mention that I still have pain from countless hyperextended joints, shin splints, sprains and breaks...
being hard as nails is cool while you are doing it, but years later when you want a regular life you may have some regrets.

companies like blackwater are not really acountable to anyone. in the new orleans disater they were deployed to keep law and order and given the power to arrest. there were storys coming out of there that the blackwater guys would fire in the general direction of gunshots and then go on with there bussines without stopping or anything , blackwater did not require any situation reports, nothing. don;t join blackwater there hated in iraq if u get caught they'll torture u bad. alot of them die too.

iron freak
it does'ent sound like you have thought properly about what you want to do. the army is not fun and shit. think about whether u are ready to die if u are then join

What are you talking about N452.... Blackwater employees are highly trained, get things done, usually spec ops guys. Im not arguing they are hated in Iraq...but why you think that is?? cuz they are no nonsense and highly trained, highly experienced. Do you honestly know how many die that are in blackwater? ill wait for YOU to personally post that number. and then ill post your quote "a lot of them die too" along side that number.
Blackwater is highly respected, iron freak. Its another option for you if you want to be in the middle of action. And the plus side is, lets say you go to their academy, after that you are required to do an assignement with them, usually 6 months (from what ive read) and after that, you can continue working for them, going on assignments, or you can quit if you dont like it. unlike the military where you cant really quit.
