Its not too bad anyway bro, the worst that can happen is having your spleen removed and its not exactly the most important organ!

My wife had mono about 9 months ago - I never got it and neither did our two children.
Doc said it was totally brought on by her not getting proper rest and not taking in enough iron. If your girlfriend is Type A and always on the go - then it could just be a matter of getting the proper rest.
I will admit that I got nervous when she brought the news home and steered clear of her for almost two weeks - I asked her if she would "rest better" if she slept in our spare room.(Ulterior motive? You Bet!)
She took me up on it and thanked me for trying to help her nip it.
If you two are living together and have this option, you might want to give it a shot.
Hope she is back on her feet soon.
When does she have the blood tested again?
(Doc waited six weeks in my wife's case)

Well, as we learned, some people are more susceptible to these things when exposed because they have some sort of weak link within their immune system or their rest patterns.
So, my educated guess would be that you will most likely be fine if you're living healthy, being active and getting enough rest.
Even though it sounds like common sense, when you're caught up in a schedule and a job you can be blind to this stuff cause the focus is not always on yourself or how you're feeling.

The vast majority of people with Epstein Barr virus (EBV) don't have symptoms when they aquire it. You may already have had it and not even know it. If so, you would be immune and not able to catch it. In fact, since most people who have been infected with EBV shed the virus periodically in their saliva, you may have given it to her. I wouldn't worry. About 50% of people in the US have it.

I've had it and didn't know it. Probably explains why I was skinny growing up.
