Yes you need to get a bike license. As for insurance you will spend like 800 a year.

You need a bike endorsement. I would recommend taking the msf course. It's a 2 day safety course and when you're done you get your endorsement. If you buy one cash, like I did, you don't need insurance, but I strongly recommend it. As for cost, it varies a lot in diff. states, your age and cc's. I'm 33 have the fastest production bike on the planet-the suzuki hayabusa- and live in fl. Full coverage for me is around $600 a year. My wife rides a 600 and hers is $350 a year. They are a blast and dangerous as all hell, too. Invest in some gear. At least a $100 helmet for your $2 head.He-he.

Start off slow there budrow. If u have never had a cycle lic, you might just want to try something a little less powerfull and easier to ride.

That ducati is around $30k. Not to mention the High$ valve adjustments you need all the time.

Where I live, you would be hit by a minivan in the first week riding one of those around. I am sure you guys take um to the track and wear out a couple hunderd dollar tire in an afternoon? They look like fun but too risky for me. I am sure you have heard all the horror stories so I won't bore you.

This was a local story, where a kid (21) was being filmed by a Baltimore Stunt crew and was going down the highway with his pants off, and ran into the back of a tow truck on the side of the road. Tragic.

Thanks for the news cast. but we dont need to read more then we do. Yes it is very dangerous and we know that ever time we got on. But the feeling you get from the ride and the rush is worth some of the chances.

Sorry to be a bummer on your thread. Figured the new guy, who posted, that just wants one for the summer, and does not even know about the licensing or the safety course should prob know it's not all girls and parties. Don't you love those new riders who pick out 900's for their first bike?

Is that your first bike deca ? If so, stay away...

Sorry guys, I race AND teach race schools, and 99% of the people i met cant handle a stock gixxer/busa/r1/etc etc on the street.

Get a 600, learn how to ride. A good rider on a 600 will smoke an average rider on a 1000+ in the twisties on any given day of the week.

That's like learning to drive a car in a nascar racecar. Seriously...start with something like a 600.They still do 140+ but it won't get away from you like a 1000. Suzuki you're getting more bang for your buck imo but every bike is set up different and people have different tastes. If you're serious about it, cool, but if you want to get one to cruise around and show off with no helmet and shorts....nice knowing you.

Unoid, I'm 6'3" 245 and I'm pretty comfortable on my busa but it's a BIG bike. Some of the other "sportbikes" you wouldn't want to ride very long.A lot of bigger guys get the Hayabusa, but you have to have some experience. They do 190 out of the box, and it gets there before you can say oh f_ck!.
