    whatever happened to american gladiators?

    that show was fantastic. a pioneer in television competition if you ask me.

    Ya I remember that show it was great, it was full of huge guys pounding little small ones.

    I think they were suppose to bring it back but the first pilot was crap.

    I used to love that show. There was another version that was more extreme and physical, that came out later. I don't remeber the name but it was badass.

    I remember they started doing it internationally, and the gladiators started getting smashed apart after a while.

    battledome was the harsher version i think, but they tried to make it too much like pro wrestling with the gimmicks and shit. we had gladiators over in england too, i loved it as a kid

    the whole show was kind of a pro wrestling/semi scripted affair - those jacked out gladiators could beat every contestant in every event any time they wanted. this allowed the producers to "pick" winners and establish plotlines.

    however, there was one FREAK strong european powerlifter that threw them around like ragdolls, anyone remember that guy?

    they started drug testing and they didnt think about the future of the show sp they all got fired not thinking about the fact they no longer have any "gladiators" just 130 lb camera dudes haha
