But it looks like his hands went out: you think he died or lived?

haha, i remember back in the day i was doing incline press in my room and the 50 pound plate fell off the barbell and bounced off the edge of my desk leaving a huge gash in it, then it hit my sheatrock wall and knoked a fat hole in that too. haha, i always secure the plates on my barbells now.

yea. there not olympic style plates though. i got the bfco 50s with the 1 inch diameter hole. im pretty sure it would be hard to find a 50 pound plate for the olympic size 2 inch hole

the guy who attempted at the Olympia was Gene Rychlak with 1005lbs
I think Scot Mendelson owns that record now with 10008lbs

In the video it's Steve Wong and it was his 832 lb bench press attempt. It was his second attempt.

he survives and actualyl does his third attempt with the same weight and is successful. The third attempt

Very interesting. Before I read your post I was gonna say it looked like he was attempting at least 25-50 pounds too much weight but guess I was wrong. Yeah, that looked painful as shite.

    its a LIGHTWEIGHT

also, powerlifting is supposed to be about how much weight you can push and not a beauty contest
so who cares how fat they are! They pushed a big weight and that's allgood

although i think that bench pressing and squatting.. with the bench shirts and squat suits take awya SOME of the credibility of their lifts
i dunno if deadlift suits play a big role in improving one's deadlift, though

i heard that mendelson attempted 1050 lbs but he couldnt pull it to his chest - a sign of the equipment going out of control

you know...thats y i dont use clips...i learn to balance them...so if i do get in trouble, lean to side, and BOOM im free...(*of course my cement has a few gashes in it, and my ears ring...but anything beats a broken chest plate)

to solve that problem just use a spotter if you cant it sucks though cuz I usually work out alone

Do you think the spotters would have been able to prevent it on this one? It just looks like it happend so quick.

nope not when your lifting this much weight. 1 spotter cant do it alone no way. look howmay rushed to him to lift it. by the time they get it up a serious inquiry could have occured.
