    XBOX Pricing Question...

    Howdy,

For those who know the gaming world (I do not), I bought a used XBOX from a friend, it's got only 1 controller, it IS DVD ready (I hear that thing alone is close to 40 bux?), and it has 5 games, not all great, but decent (Soccer, Golf, Rainbox Six, Wrestling and Snowboarding), and I bought it for $100 bux flat (Canadian = $90 U.S.)

Was it worth it? Decent deal? No, i'm not a hardcore gamer if you're wondering, doubt i'll even get XBOX Live, it's just something to pass the occasional "boring" times that creep up on you.

    Youp,
    T.

P.S. Obviously I'm talking about the original XBOX, and not the 360 (duh!)

Is "modding" something you can do on your own? And when you say "free" games, you mean burnt versions? Are they all DVD discs?

    Thnx,

Yes, you can mod ur xbox on ur own. Usually when u buy a modchip you will get straight forward instructions with it, but it might require a bit of soldering. As for the "free" games, you can download the games and burn them onto dvd discs. You would be able to find a lot of information about it if you searched on google.

If it's 'DVD ready' sounds like it's modded already. You got a good deal IMO.

'DVD ready' could mean that it's already modded which would mean you got an amazing deal, but it could be only the accessory that allows the xbox to play dvd movies.

DVD ready means it has that little black thing you place into the controller outlet and it has a DVD remote.

It's not modded. I have a modded green Halo edition X-Box with over 20,000 games, it's f*cking insane! But, I like my 360 a lot better!

Depends on how old, but as long as it is still running you got a solid deal. If you like the games is another big thing.

    Hey Guys,

I'm pretty sure it is not modded, just regular. By DVD ready, I meant that it just has that DVD input thing plus the remote, but it works great, and I heard that thing alone sold for $40 bux, so that's neat. All the games work (6 of them), and I guess it's an "older" version (?) because the bottom says MFG Date is 2001, and I'm not sure when the XBOX came out, but I assume around that time?

Anyways, I guess the main thing that gets pricy is the games, it's always the games that get you, so obviously getting it "modded" is the way to go. Ebay has good deals (I assume), where they sell regular legit games, "lots" of 10-20 for reasonable prices I guess, plus crazy ones with over 100 games for a couple hundred bux (crazy!).

    Thnx,
    T.

Hey I happened to stumble across www.ebgames.com and it seems unreal, but they are selling a ton of USED games, but quite cheap! There are games going anywhere from 2.99 and up, but some are really good it seems, although I'm not sure. Like a used Halo is going for 6.99. Crimson Skies for 2.99, etc...

Has anyone bought games off EB before? Is this a good deal? Are they selling them AS IS? Is there a risk of the games NOT working?

    Thnx,
    T.
