I love to hear consumer revenge stories! Reminds me of the whole stolen sidekick fiasco.

true that. however, many people when first starting to use ebay are under the mistaken impression that the site is somehow secure. of course nothing could be further from the truth, but sometimes it takes a few transactions, and regretfully a bad one, to find that out. after having a bad transaction, that's when you usually find out ebay is completely worthless in resolving bad transactions.

i find ebay to be about as secure as buying items in those sidewalk shops in NY city. the only difference is that those sidewalk shops are usually reasonably priced, whereas most the sellers on ebay think they can sell things for retail. it's really gone downhill over the past 6 years or so with overpriced items and bad sellers.

Perfectly understandable. But remember, while an ass whoopin may linger for a few weeks-a picture of you on the internet getting jacked-off by someone's feet, that will live forever!

I agree. A few months ago I placed a $10,000 + bid on an item on ebay. Even though I did not win, I became a target. I started getting junk emails that were pretending to be every type of Bank and asking for my personal information as if I had an account with them. I was contacted by ebay and pay-pal all of which were fake companies tyring to steal my info. I never give personal sh!t out, but last month on my credit card statement, someone bought hundreds of dollars worth of ebay gift certificates and used them before I even received my statement. Some how someone was able to get into my ebay account and change my personal information and use my credit cards to purchase gift certificates, then buy product before I even knew!

I love this thread though, because someone like me finally got revenge!
