you guys responded before i finished editing my response about vets sorry :P (too fast for me)
i added this on to the end
as far as stating what would you have to gain by lying? no one is claiming your a lyer man. Farthest thing from my mind atleast. I just think you are misimformed as i'm sure you think i am. Difference is, I have a backround in this. Oh and vets don't know everything about every breed of dog. They don't teach vets about dog breeding or dog behavior. They teach them about the inner workings of the dog. So a vet's "opinion" isn't mcuh more valid than the average person. Talk to dog breeders...and not just pit breeders. Talk to all of them and they will tell you what happens to ALL dogs with bad breeding.

well like i said, if i can find some credible documentation or studies from the net indicating that psychological issue with the pits, i will certainly post it here for you.
regardless of who's right or wrong, a pit is a damn tough dog, hence why they're so commonly used for fighting. if most typical dogs turn on you, a good hit or two can knock them off. however, pits can take a serious beating and in the unfortunate circumstance that one did turn on you or a loved one, they're a far more formidable opponent than most dogs, and there's no way you can assure without question that it would never happen.
i had found information on a site regarding dobermans and an issue with brain growth that can cause them to react similarly to the issues i mentioned with the pits, but i have still yet to find the info about pits.
at this point, until i can find further research confirming my claims, i'd like to leave this thread on a peaceful note and to be honest, i hope for the sake of all pit owners that you're actually right. as much as i hate to say it though, i'm just not seeing pits as a safe pet.

It's all good though, I had my breath of fresh air so I can stop PMSing. Like I sais before, I have a soft spot for pits, and discrimination against then is something I have to deal with in a daily basis. Just gets really frustrating. And Ascendant look all ou want, but you will not find any proof of that claim b/c it is simply hearsay. It is however proven that dobies can hjave a condition where their brains grow too big for their skull and they just go mad. It's really sad when it happens too.

ascendant just cause they are banned doesn't mean they are all bad. IT just means there is an over abundance of bad breeders that are messing it up for everybody. I bought my old pit from a VERY reputable breeder ( came with a health guarantee/ papers/ parents on premises and they were teddy bears) and he was goo. You base your 'research' off googling 'pits aggressive' of course you'll find stuff just as if i googled 'poodles biters.
Man your post are mad long tooooooooo....include cliffnotes for the next one j/k ps...good points zim

You stated more than once in your response to my post to re-read yours. I suggest you re-read mine. You really inferred quite a lot. Asserting dominance does not involve hitting, beating, being mean, whatever you want to call it. You saying my ideology of how the relationship should be with humans to their pets "disturbs" you offends me. Never hit a dog in my life. Never been psychologically mean to a dog or animal. I like animals more than I like people. Please don't put words into my post that aren't there and don't assume anything beyond what I write. Let's go back to your 1 personal story that has defined the breed for you. You came home and your pit was shaking in the middle of the room...lololol.. sounds like a healthy dog?!?!? Asserting youself as the pack leader is not mean and it provides the structure the dog needs otherwise it is confused on hierarchy or will assume he is the pack leader. From your response I can honestly tell you really dont' know that much about dogs. As far as a child establishing dominace, I didn't even go into that but I will since you brought that up. How do you think a small child could assume dominance? It couldnt'. It's the parents job. There are many different exercises the parent can do to let the dog know it is below the child in the pack. Not going to go into that. You just don't want to listen cause you had a pit that was mentally fragile or had something severely wrong with it.
